Not that it wasn't obvious in the first place but AB just did a super slow mo of rifle recoil before the bullet leaves the barrel. The recoil was 0.057" before the bullet even exited the barrel (.30-06 Remington NDL with 180gr). It's their way of stressing how important consistent fundamentals are since the rifle is moving before the bullet leaves the barrel. I think they're also currently on a crusade to show that reloaders' concentration on "harmonics" and "nodes" is mostly woowoo bullcrap since they mentioned the barrel doesn't appear to visibly vibrate at all before the bullet exits. I don't really have an opinion on that part.

It’s always nice to be reminded that there is a scientifically valid reason why I suck.

I know there is a company that makes a gizmo to track movement of a handgun during the aim/trigger press/firing sequence. Has anyone seen something like this for rifle use?

Eric Cortina had the guy from Ammolytics on his podcast, and he's on the path of doing something similar with super duper high speed cameras to try and measure this "sine wave" and "whip" that everyone fantasizes about. IIRC he said he doubts a lot of the theory and believes what AB posted here, the majority of the movement comes from the recoil before muzzle exit. It will be interesting to see his results if he continues with it, but the idea of "nodes" or "tuning" a load so that the bullet exits at the same point of it's cycle using "OBT" or something, with a bullet doing 3,000fps avg and as ES of 40, cracks me up. Manage recoil, shoot better.

You guys talked about the Berger Juggernaut 185gr. being good for the .308 Win. Is that the Tactical or the Target version? Or do they both behave the same?

Almost had coffee come out my nose when I heard “sue-you” pattern.
I love Kuiu products, but you need to give your customers a way to get their custom rifles camouflaged in KUIU if they want it. Maybe they are, but they gotta shut everyone down first, IDK.

Doesn't Weatherby offer Kuiu camo patterns on their rifles? So there has to be some sort of licensing deal available? And it's on the vanguard line so I wouldn't think its too expensive to add

As does howa
Both cheap rifles so probably economy of scale.
It could be a flat licensed rate that’s cost prohibitive for small scale niche builders but acceptable for big box mass production rifles.

I doubt they are able to capture anything meaningful from that.

I would have liked to perform that high speed camera test at the muzzle of an old sub 7 pound 375 I used to have. I bet it moved a whole lot more than that.

Not a fan of how often the camera was switching on the newest episode. Seems like it was something automated to just go to who was speaking, and it was too much, I had to switch to just listening to this one.

Yeah I think it was especially bad since they used a Fade Through Black transition for every cut/camera change. So the screen kept blacking out over and over all epileptically...

I have to say the latest episode was a bit too foul and distasteful for myself. From the new intro to the demeaning comments directed at “fat” people.. c’mon guys. No one is listening to get dietary or fitness advice from you guys, so chill a bit.

Edit to add: Saying this as a friend. I think more of us would be inclined to keep listening to all of the episodes if they were toned down just a bit in that regard. @Ryan Avery
