So it sounds like @Ryan Avery is building a 6cm to shoot the dtacs. Curious what the barrel length will be and what you think your effective range will be? I'm definitely going to build a 6mm, but would really prefer to not need a magnum bolt face. But also want to shoot suppressed and still have velocity to be lethal to 600 or further if possible. If I can't get that out of a 6 cm or 243, I may go to a 6 prc but really don't want to do that.

You absolutely can get that out of a 6 CM, even going short on the barrel and with factory ammo.
Friend & myself here in AK this year alone with a 6 CM:
18" barrel, Moose @ 525 yards, 2 shots. 112 Match Burner
16" barrel, Caribou @ 600 yards, 1 shot. 109 ELD-M
Multiple other Caribou & Moose in the 4-600 range with that 16" barrel.

It's saying something that @Ryan Avery is building yet another 6 CM after having used a 6 UM for the last couple years.

What muzzle velocities are you getting with those lengths / ammo combinations?

I've backed down a bit on my load to 2920 fps with the 112 MB's out of the 18", using H4350, which is the load I killed the moose with.
I believe my friend with the 16" is in the high 2900's with the 109's and a warm load of the same powder.
My 18" is a bit under 2900 with factory 108 ELD-M's.

Those velocities all sound pretty spicy looking at GRT, wonder what quickload says. What is your primer pocket life like?

How many animals do you have with the match burners? I was initially set on using those, but it seems like some people are seeing mixed results on terminal ballistics. Any concerns with that bullet? Right now it's either the dtacs, 109 eldm, or possibly the mb's.

1 moose, 2 blacktail. 90 yards to 525. Great performance on all. I have heard mixed results on other calibers of the MB's, but my limited use of the 112's is positive. You wouldn't go wrong with the 109's though.

The 6CM is a great all around western hunting rifle.(sounds funny when I say that) but it’s true. I’m planing on doing a bunch of scouting next year with my mules and want a light weight 6CM for that.

But make no mistake the 6UM is a different beast. It’s just not for plinking.

6UM from today!

What length barrel on this one?

You tried the 109s at all or just rocking the dtac?
21” it’s a fast barrel. Tanya’s rifle is 20” and shoots 3275.

Yes, I will try some I tried some 95 TMKs today but she didn't like them. She LOVES the 115s

Not that it wasn't obvious in the first place but AB just did a super slow mo of rifle recoil before the bullet leaves the barrel. The recoil was 0.057" before the bullet even exited the barrel (.30-06 Remington NDL with 180gr). It's their way of stressing how important consistent fundamentals are since the rifle is moving before the bullet leaves the barrel. I think they're also currently on a crusade to show that reloaders' concentration on "harmonics" and "nodes" is mostly woowoo bullcrap since they mentioned the barrel doesn't appear to visibly vibrate at all before the bullet exits. I don't really have an opinion on that part.
