Yes, it won't surprise me if many folks restore the mom-at-home model after this. It's a fallacy that both parents have to work. You just have to live within your means. I know my wife said it was devastating if her mom was out on an errand when she got home from school. She and her sister would always sit at the table and talk over their day with their mom for a half hour or so after school.

Love the optimism! My kind of people.
Here’s what we’ve been up to:

House projects. Devouring Pod casts.
Shooting guns and bows.
Running down by the river.
Homeschooling. We homeschooled for almost 10 yrs so nothing new there.
Buying tags and planning hunts. Kids are taking the bear identification test.
Getting ready to help my son and my buddy get set up with the ID online Bow Ed class. No field day required. MT will accept that. Win-win.
Lots of Zoom meetings. Eating too much.
Dreaming about mule deer and bonfires.

Other than a slight decrease in income, we’re good. It’s nice to have the high schoolers around more than usual. We miss seeing our church family, but all in all... pretty chill

Even though the windchill has been down in the teens, beachcombing...lots of beachcombing....my 9 year old has brought home her weight in seashells lol....
....lots of dreaming about lakes that aren't hard on top and my lawn not having two feet of snow...

Been working from home (and really thankful my employer/field is essential and I’m able to still work). My dog has been my best coworker to date

Other than that my wife and I run a boarding facility for horses on the side and we have been getting out stretching our legs with the horses.

Trying to get front yard snowbanks out of the way so I can work on next years firewood...
I have a truck full of 16 foot birch logs coming that will get dumped in our driveway.
After snow melts off, spot and stalk bear hunts, moose shed hunts, spring morel hunts, etc.

Works been busy as my trade is deemed essential. Been getting out on the weekends to go explore the hills. Been about the same as normal. Excited for spring bear to kick off here in a couple weeks. Good time of the year to be outside. Alot more people out in the hills than normal because all of this. But nice to see people outside

Well all.... we’ve been doing some turkey scouting here in Nebraska. Telling folks that we’re still planning on their hunts. Then tonight we got kicked right in the face....

Nebraska has suspended all non resident license purchases. That leaves 100% of our booked hunters without tags causing a mess. I understand their reasoning behind it, but doesn’t suck any less from those relying on the income. From the guide working per day to the rancher relying on the extra income to make the ranch run. It blows.

So if you were planning on hunting Nebraska this spring you’ll want to re-evaluate.

Edit to make this positive: I guess we’ll be personally hunting turkeys this year after all.

If there was ever a time in my life to be forced to stay at home, this was the perfect time for me. Just bought a house and moved in on the 8th. Extra time to set up my shop in the garage, build my garden in the backyard, and get everything put away. I'm certainly not hurting for things to do at the moment.

The positive with my kids (9,7,4) and I is the fact that it forced me to sit down and plan out a schedule for them so they wouldn't get too bored with all of the down time. I was able to think about what life skills I want them to learn, and made a list each day of the things we're going to do together so they learn it for themselves. Nothing sexy about it - Learning how to iron, do laundry, fold/put their clothes away, plant seeds, design our garden, assemble soccer nets, plan and make a meal together, etc. Our normal schedule doesn't allow for this kind of free time to teach these things, so in a way it's a blessing.

And, sprinkled in-between home schooling and the tasks laid out above, plenty of free time in the yard. Slip and slide, swing-set time, fishing, play with the hose and mud and get dirty, and of course S'mores in the backyard fire pit. Sometimes, simple things are the best.

Above all, it's a good opportunity to teach them about adaptability and resilience. Thanks for starting the thread, stay positive my friends!

My wife and I have been working from home for the last two weeks and getting a later start than I wanted to start doing my work outs for my second elk season. Due to aggravating an old football injury that caused nerve damage in my neck and arm. Had to wait for it to heal enough to try my workouts again.

Started my kettlebell and backpack cardio this week. Became an elk junkie after my first trip last fall with my son. Unfortunately now more worried about life in general because my wife was asked to come into the office on Friday to do a small project that couldn’t be done at home. Well today we found out a selfish AH she works with was found positive for the virus. On Friday even though he was being tested for the virus later that day he went into the office and was working in close proximity to my wife. She has bad RA and has to have an IV to treat it every month. The medication suppresses her immune system. So now we are worried that she will get it.

Now just hoping to get through this insanity and see scenes like this again in the fall.

I am an emergency nurse so things are in full swing for me. 60+ hour weeks plus on call for the foreseeable future. Enjoying my day off today. Teaching my youngest how to ride her bike, oldest is mixing a deer jerky marinade as we speak.

Turkey season is around the corner. I have not turkey hunted in 10 yrs but my youngest is begging to go, so I am making plans to take her out. My oldest has zero desire to hunt, but loves to trout fish and hatchery season opens soon. Maybe a cast and blast day soon?

Thank you for putting yourself on the line. It has to be a scary situation.

Got out for some gear testing, goat glassing and night photography last weekend, didn't realize "social distancing" was a pretty accurate description of my regular pre-pandemic life

Also made some sweet & sour bear the other day, isolation ain't so bad!

I guess if there's one good thing about all this lockdown stuff......I normally don't start getting elk fever until about mid August. But this year I got it early.......I'm ready to go.
