Tanya shot this Sable at 100 yards. The shot was placed just like the PH asked for: straight up the leg, bottom third of the body. The bull collapsed, then staggered to its feet, walked a couple of steps, and laid down. There are lots of cool animals in Africa, but this is probably my favorite.

Deep cut NR or standard?Yes

Standard. But honestly it doesn’t seem to matter on most animals.Deep cut NR or standard?
What do you feel is minimum muzzle velocity to have desired terminal performance with the nose ring dtac? 3100+? I have a 20" 6prc getting cut, and wondering if I should have him put 175fb for 108-112gr bullets, or slip it out to 225 for the dtacs.Standard. But honestly it doesn’t seem to matter on most animals.
They seem to work over a huge velocity spread. Up close they seem to fragment like a cross between a ELDm and Berger target. At distance, 1400-2000 fps they tumble and make a mess. The PH in Africa said “that little bullet is hard to argue with”.What do you feel is minimum muzzle velocity to have desired terminal performance with the nose ring dtac? 3100+? So shoot on crease inside 300y, past that put it on the shoulder to take out the 4 wheel drive? They seem to work over a huge velocity spread. I guess it’s what you want the animal to do. With the 6UM I try to say off the shoulder 600 and under. So shoot on crease inside 300y, past that put it on the shoulder to take out the 4 wheel drive?
Agreed. I'm gonna aim for 3100fps with the 20" 6prc, medium psi load. So I'd be at that 2500fps mark around 450-500y depending on DA. I'll just shoot crease. Appreciate all the input! This cow was shot at around 500 yard hit the edge of the scapula going in and ruined both shoulders.. that to much IMO.
These conversations make me laugh when I listen to podcast or read in a magazine that a 6.5 is marginal for elk. Here we are worried about meat damage at 600 yards with a 6mm. Haha!Agreed.
