It's never just the rifle , it's a new trigger , mounts , dies , maybe a stock ......But I say go for it ,

For what its worth (i don't have exact weights but within a few OZ) my 73yo dad went from a 10lb rifle to a 5.5lb (howa superlite) all in and he is in absolute love.

In the hunting world where people will throw down $100/oz and be very happy, I say buy new and sell the old.

This is sound logic and why I'm struggling with the whole thing.
It's $41/oz if I kept the old rifle which is still a bargain in backcountry weight saving terms.
