Just bought a 6.5 prc roughteck tikka t3x rifle. It weights 7.1 lbs. I am looking for a hunting scope out to 500 yards. I am looking at the Vortex Razor LHT 4.5x22 x 50 because it weighs in at 21 oz's and is in my price range. I want my new setup to be in the low 9 lbs max. because I will be carrying it up to 10 miles a day.
I like the razor's glass over the viper.
What do you think?

I have one and it got dropped a few times this year but zero stayed perfect. Son shot his buck at 586 with it. I'm happy with it.

Rio – sounds like a solid option. At out to 500yr in a hunting scenario, you will not be disappointed. And that is a great weight option for the back country! I have zero brand loyalty and change things up all the time. Have owned vortex stuff in the razor and other configs. Still have a couple of the razor configs and have one in an LHT. Keep us posted on what you end up with. It’s a learning process for all of us.

running one on my seekins 6.5 PRC. its been rock solid for me. driven thousands of miles with it in the truck, dropped it multiple times and taken a couple stumbles in the backcountry with no issues. i was a bit hesitant after reading Forms review but it checked a lot of boxes for me, vortex gives a pretty solid LEO discount, and so far at least i havent had any sort of similar problems.

I’ve been running one on a T3X 300WM for four years. Mountain tactical rail, Seekins rings. Haven’t had any issues holding zero, and have taken elk, antelope and caribou from 200-475 yds. Plenty of time in the pack, truck, side by sides, and one set of flights to AK and back. No big drops, but it has plenty of minor scuffs. No issues dialing, love the locking elevation turret, and am satisfied with the glass and reticle.

Good friend has one on a 300 PRC, no issues.

I will say that the illumination button is mushy, and inconsistently functional. If illumination is important to you, I’d definitely look elsewhere. Also, magnification adjustment is very stiff, and windage adjustment clicks are sloppy for a scope at that price.

Overall, no regrets.

Having said that… my next scope in a similar price range will be a Tijicon Tenmile 3-18, or Maven RS1.2. Enough evidence out there to convince me that the vast improvement in durability is worth the slight weight penalty.
