Fair point. Rice and beans for a month or two!But it's 1.5 lbs!

This is sound logic and why I'm struggling with the whole thing. If I matched right that's $12.50/oz
In the hunting world where people will throw down $100/oz and be very happy, I say buy new and sell the old.
I typically do, but I actually lose about 10+ pounds.Take a dump before hiking up the mountain there’s your 1.5 pounds. If you want a new rifle buy one and go do some killing! lol

Damn WTH are you guys eating? LolI typically do, but I actually lose about 10+ pounds.
Yep. I thought it seemed like a pretty good deal which is why all this came up. Pretty good deal?Where are you finding a roughtech for $1000?
Edit: europtics?
But I have to justify owning all these dang things!Lose the suppressor. Buy earplugs.
10 bucks saves you 9 ounces.
How are you carrying your rifle when in the wilderness for a week? If it's strapped to your pack, or slung across you, I wouldn't think 1.5 pounds would be worth investing in. Are you carrying it in your hands all day?
If that's the case, I'd invest in one of the cool new sling designs that keeps it secured to your body (HelloMaterials is the one that comes to mind) and then enjoy nature with your hands free and zero concerns about a tiny weight difference.
EDIT - Ultimate Gun Sling is another to consider - looks like a better design than the HelloMaterials.
What are you planning to use it for?$1000 isn't chump change for me right now, but I love new firearms and offseason fever is getting to me.
Current is a 6.5 PRC coming in at 9 lbs 2 oz scoped weight before suppressor, 9 lbs 11 oz suppressed.
I'm looking at a Tikka Superlight Roughtech in 6.5 CM that would come in at 7 lbs 10 oz scoped weight before suppressor, 8 lbs 3 oz suppressed.
I view the calibers as a wash, same projectiles.
I view the accuracy as probably minute of shooter difference.
What I like is the 1.5 lbs lighter weight for carrying for 7 days up and down the mountains. Cheaper ammo is a slight bonus as well.
Is 1.5 lbs enough to make that much of a difference? I realize I can easily cut 1.5 lbs elsewhere, but I could also do that in addition to the 1.5 lbs for the rifle.
Pretty much everything except for maybe Nilgai. So small Texas deer, antelope, and Elk and if I ever get around to burning the mule deer points. I use gas guns for pigs so probably no pigs. What are you planning to use it for?
DM we can discuss. I am just north of you and you can come up and see my set up. I am in a similar boat. I want a sub 7.75 lb rifle. I don’t think it is possible unless you give up a dialing scope and factory stock.Pretty much everything except for maybe Nilgai. Oh boy lots of food for thought. I can't even find a Superlite Roughtech on their website, the regular 24" superlites it lists about 6.5 lbs.DM we can discuss. I am chasing the weight due to a ruptured disc. I just bought a used 6.5 CM Tikka super light rough tech cut to 16”. I won’t make weight with my TBAC ultra 7 and S&B 3x12x42 Klassic if I go with the factory stock. I’ll be just over 8lbs. This means I need to drop to a Trijicon Huron saving 5 ozs or upgrade the stock at another $750 by the time I paid to get a Rokstock bedded. This is assuming I can even get one.
I believe the rifle needs to be 5lbs bare or you won’t make weight with a decent scope and suppressor. The weights listed on Eurooptics are off. You need to go with the weights on the Tikka website.
Once I add the 22 oz S&B and 4 oz rings I am overweight.
