SWFA website updated; More to come in 2024

I think people have much different definition of what "thick woods" is. That picture above is hilarious to me.

When hunting the coastal rainforest 4x is more than I want. 2 or 3x on the bottom end is what I prefer.
Haha yea .. the interpretations of that vary a lot. I am not in coastal rainforest but it occasionally is pretty thick. However, not so thick that I can imagine accidentally getting closer than 50 yards without the animal spotting me and bolting or me spotting the animal and having time to put it in the scope.

A fixed 10x is not ideal, but for what I'd use it for I think it's totally adequate considering I can save some money for ammo or another suppressor

Take one of your 3-9s out on full power and see how easy it is for target acquisition. In my experience it works but is much less ideal that 6.
Can you describe conditions where you’ve been unable to acquire targets and make shots with SWFA scopes? I’ve been using these for the last 6-8 years and have never had a limitation due the glass quality.

I don’t think he said he has an issue with SWFA.

Someone else asked about hunting with the 10x fixed scope. He said to go out with the 3-9x set to 9x and make a determination if a fixed 10x would be acceptable where he hunts. He was giving the guy a comparison.

The way I’m understanding his post it’s about the magnification not the glass quality.

My bad. Misread. Sorry guys. Thought it was more stuff about glass. On the magnification, if you are stand or ground blind hunting in thick cover, the extra magnification can be handy for threading the needle through openings in the brush. I don’t think I would have any heartburn using an 10x for this. Admittedly it was a fixed 6x, but I took a doe at dawn last month at 30 yards through a a small opening in thick timber and brush. I don’t shoot at big game that is moving, so the concept of using a red dot or LPVO for fast sight acquisition is sorta lost on me. It’s not bird hunting. We Americans don’t do a lot of driven hunts for deer. If that’s your thing, maybe the 10x isn’t optimal.

Where we hunt in the rainforest, 50 yards is a very long shot. Only happens if you are on a river looking not just across but up or down it as well. I am sure we have killed an elk or two at 50sih yards or a bit further, but most are half that.

One year I brought a 4.5-14 leupold and man was that a mistake. I was about very close to a herd, and all I saw was a sea of fur. The Rosies don't form bachlor groups to the extent that Rocky's do, so the bulls are generally with the cows. They are often feeding when I find them, so its a sea of heads going up and down (with the heads only up for a sec or two to check for antlers) and so I need zoom in and out to confirm the animal I am pointing at a legal bull and I have a safe shooting lane.

Is it the new version with the gen 2 turrets? Did they raise the price?

I assume it’s the same scope, she didn’t make mention of any differences, or a change in my backorder price- but I admittedly didn’t talk to her for long

I'm guessing they're going to go through all the back order folks before putting it back in stock on their website. So, there may be two Scopes for sale off their website 😂

I too received an email saying there’s a 3-9 with my name on it. I forgot I even put one on backorder, since that time I bought a 3-9 and realized I didn’t care for it so there will be at least 1 that’s “going back into inventory” as they put it in the email.

The fact that the 3-9 was not moved to the “discontinued” section on their website leads me to believe that model will be unchanged for the foreseeable future.

Just got the call on my 1/7/23 order
They are honoring the price.
She said they have a new ordering system and it will be next week before they get them out the door.
