Does anyone use the fixed 10x for all hunting, including thick woods? I'm wondering if that'd work ok for a 223 as a trainer and backup hunting rifle. I'm not sure about a 6x when they do become available. 3-9x is where it's at, but would like to save a little cash

I’d go fixed 6 before I went fixed 10

Have you taken it squirrel hunting in the woods, as an extreme example? I'm not too worried about a quick shot at an elk at 50 in the woods that I hunt (maybe a little), but I'd also like to use it for rabbits this winter. I'm thinking if I can find a snowshoe hare's head quickly with the reticle at 10x at 25yd, then I have no worries.

I prefer the 6x a lot more than the 10x on small critters. I wouldn’t hesitate to use the 10x, but 6x is where it’s at

Yeah have not had an issue with it. My wife shot her first deer with the fixed 10 in November and had no issues finding the right deer to shoot sub 100yards.

Deer are at 10ish yards.

No squirrel or other small game hunting.

@HighUintas we have one in the 7yo's 10/22 and he can find his targets well enough on his own. My brother has a pretty fancy Tikka and I sent him a few links for scopes I "approved" of this time last year, and he bought a 10x SWFA. I didn't give it a second thought and he shot a bull this year with it.

I think the 6X is more better, but the 10X is an easy yes when one isn't available AND the user understands where it might be a slight handicap. I'll probably stick the gen2 I bought in my rifle and let it ride all year.

Take one of your 3-9s out on full power and see how easy it is for target acquisition. In my experience it works but is much less ideal that 6.

No way I'd take a fixed 10x into the woods hunting. Too many better options.

I emailed them asking about it and they said a 6x42 gen 2 was coming and almost certainly in 2025 but no confirmed timeline.

I would bet money that means it will not be until at least Q3
Seeing as the last big announcement for 2024 was in October ‘23 and nothing happened until the very end of the year, that’s not promising. I had hoped their supply issue would be somewhat resolved with the new contract starting over with the gen2 scopes but it appears not. I’m losing interest in the company more every day.

I emailed them about 6x and 3-9x and this is what they told me 7 days ago.

"While we do not have a specific date to share at this moment, this product is expected to be back in stock during the first quarter of 2025. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or need additional assistance."

@HighUintas
I received the same response the other day. Hopefully the traction they received will help smooth out their logistics, and they'll be good for that estimated timeline.
