And my Dall hunt in the NWT in 2017 was abut 50% of the present Alaska cost. At the present rates I'd have to move to Alaska and DIY on Dall, Brown Bear and Grizzly to afford a second super slam!

Think about buying pretty much anything 5+ figures in 2017 vs now.. 50% would actually be a pretty poor return from 2017

Jonah’s. Looks like it went from $30k to $34k in the last couple months. But they did add caribou as an add on. That wasn’t an option in ‘19.

I’d read and heard really good things about his operation. Considered him but I was already priced out at 30k.

I imagine all these outfitters are going to take another hit this year just with fuel costs alone jumping in the last month.

Doc, The Dall cost (not the same outfitter...one in Alaska, the other in the NWT) doubled in cost from 2017 to 2022...that is a 100% increase in cost. I worded it that it was 50% of today's price back in 2017....just different ways of stating the same thing.

Yeah, I meant 100% return is not that good from 2017. Many people are up 3 or 4X from things bought in 2019 and even 2020

I am sure Canada being on lock down for over a year has something to do with it.
Folks had less options for booking due to that, so they booked in AK and it caused a push back in bookings year wise.

Wonder how those bookings look now…with recession on tap, markets down, and forecasts of $9 gas by winter. Bet a bunch of cancellations are coming in the next year…about the time the housing bubble pops.

Desperation to fill a lifelong dream isn't loosing any steam. The market seems to top out around $50-60k these days for sheep, dalls will get there soon enough.

Jake Jefferson has stopped taking bookings. I don’t know if he canceled any hunts that he already had booked.

Stone sheep hunts will probably dance around 6 digits within the next 3-5 years would be my guess based off the current trends.

I would love to shoot a ram, but there is no way in hell I am paying that much money. I was really lucky to be able to go on my buddy's (@Clarktar ) wife's sheep hunt with them in the Chugach this year. The only difference was I was behind the spotter, instead of the gun, in the moment of truth. I don't need to pay an extra 30K just to touch the trigger....but that is me.

When they cost 50K folks will say man 30K was a good deal. When its 75k, they will say man 50K was a good deal, etc. People always think everything is too expensive, meanwhile costs of said dream keep going up and dreams go unfulfilled. The dollar is worth less every day we are alive and will continue to be worth less as time goes on, thanks to politicians like Biden.
