Silencerco Scythe TI review

I bought rockset but have been fine lately after tightening the piss out of everything so haven’t yet used it.

Nice assist! Just ordered up the $3 tube.

Just so I’m clear… someone above said water soluble. That’s nice for tear down as needed, but this stuff will also break down if it gets rained on, I suppose. Anybody experience that?

Thanks guys

i have had good luck with just a tube clamp and a socket for the thread adapters, but since everything I have is now 5/8 threaded, will probably go ahead and hit them with a drop or two of rockset as well.

I need one of these! If anyone knows of any sales, please post them up. I hesitated a few months ago and byu the time I checked back, they were gone! Iirc they were in the $800's on sale.

This is what I use

It's been so long since I first ordered this that I don't remember if I knew the answer to this question or not - is this designed so that if when I forget to take it off before shooting, that it won't mess up my shot?

There’s so much pressure ahead of that round that I can’t imagine it staying on. But if the bullet does make a hole through it, that could be an issue for the same reasons a damaged crown often is. (Perturbation of trailing edge vortices)

No it will need to be soaked. I have always had to soak for 24 hours. With just a dab you maybe able to break loose by hand but probably not. If you put too much on you will have to soak for days and it will be a real bear to get apart. In this case more isnt better.

I bought mine this weekend. Hopefully it’s ready before deer season.

Rokset doesn't necessarily need a long soak, it needs hot water. Put the supressor in a pot of boiling or simmering water, 2-3 minutes, it'll break. I had a muzzle brake that the smith used a decent amount of rokset and I could NOT get it off in a vice, I was like wtf. So called him, he told me put the muzzle in boiling water short period of time, broke easily after that.

Getting a factory brake off my LWRC took boiling in a pot 4 times and a 24 hr soak and still needed a action wrench and a 2' cheater bar to get the damn thing off.

I shot a Hyperion K back to back with my Scythe-Ti this evening on the 6 CM. The Scythe was noticeably quieter. Enough so that I can shoot without hearing pro with the Scythe, while the Hyperion left a slight ringing in my left ear. It has a louder crack at the end of the report, whereas the Scythe has a lower tone. My buddy observed the same.
For reference, I shot 25 rounds of 6 CM with no hearing pro, no hat on or hood. Just bare ears and had no reservation doing so.

You mind me asking what size TAC MTN cover you are running on the Scythe? Appears there is a 7" and 6" option. Curious what'd you suggest. Also, is that little end cap water tight? Are you still taping with electrical tape while in the Alaskan elements or does it seem to keep things sealed off well enough as is? Lastly, what would you guess the weight is of the full TAC MTN unit?

6". Its not watertight. The neoprene cover on the end comes off when bushwacking and is not waterproof. I still tape up the brake & bore. Not sure of weight offhand, but its about the same as any cover. 2-3 oz.

That is a sick setup man! I am running the same stock on a defiance action with the scythe ti in 7 PRC. What tripod/adapter is that? Going to order the FHF cover as well. seems to be the best option. Really wish there was a waterproof option out there to avoid taping, but if there is I cant seem to find it.

Is a suppressor cover essential for a hunting rifle? I am still waiting on my Scythe, so I haven’t tried it yet. I am not interested in being tactical or camouflaged. I just want to know if I am going to need a cover for a suppressor if I rarely expect to fire more than a few 5-shot groups to confirm zero and then use it for hunting.

Thanks. The tripod is a Really Right Stuff Ascend-14 compact/platform with a direct mounted Anvil clone, Leofoto MA-30L. For any serious bushwacking or mountain hunting, I'm going to tape up the end cap. The neoprene cover just gets pulled off so easily. I don't particularly like the velcro on the FHF cover either. I'd just go with whatever cover you like and tape the end.

For the range it is needed I think, but I don't use mine hunting.
