There’s nothing magic about an orbital welder. If it’s not setup correctly, the welds can still be poor. Additionally, while the outside of a weld can look pretty (or less than pretty), the real question is what the inside of the weld joint looks like.Weird, you would think all the welds would be done by an orbital welding machine. They should be perfect.???????
I just got my Scythe yesterday. Welds look ok. Not perfectly even but I’m not overly concerned with that. I don’t have any direct experience with Ti, so I’m not sure if I could tell truly good from bad, and as noted, I don’t know what the inside of the weld looks like or what other factors in the incoming pieces or welder setup would lead to mixed bag of results being reported here.
The can will start on a 6.5x55 that I still need to thread, so it may be a bit before I have an adequate round count to know one way or the other.
