SilencerCo Scythe Ti Owners: Have you had a catastrophic failure?

I joined the catastrophic failure club.

Browning X Bolt, 300 Win Mag 1-8 twist shooting Federal Trophy Copper 180s.

8 rounds through the gun over about 90 minutes (a lot of it was tinkering with the scope and my dope charts). 9th round and it blew apart at the weld.
How many total rounds did you have through it?

Welp, today was the day.

163 rounds of 7PRC 24 rounds of 308
20" barrel
Factory ammo
175gr and 178gr Hornady ELDx and 180gr ELDm
Blew apart at second baffle

Bummer - mine is holding strong, but haven’t shot any larger cartridges through it yet.

I almost wonder if they should be making the second and third baffles with thicker walls to get more surface area for the welds. Of course I think a lot of us know the best solution at this point is to buy an Unknown Reaper

So far so good with mine over multiple cartridges .
40-50 rounds of 7prc 22”
40 ish rounds of 308 20”
200 ish rounds of 6 creed 24”
240 ish rounds of 22 creed 22”
150 ish rounds of 6.5/ 7prc 20”

I'll admit, Silencer Co customer service has been responsive and I am expecting a week turn around.

Responsive yes, but while also continuing to deny there is anything remotely wrong with the Scythe… They told me last week that the Scythe’s warranty rate is “inline to below” the average rate across all their products and have no plans to change anything about the can or restrictions/disclaimers..

Lol, they may not be lying. Their other products might just have an even higher rate of failure.

There's just no way, no freaking way.

Has anyone not had a catastrophic failure with the scythe with a high round count? I'm waiting for mine to go any time now.

Seems like there's a lot of high round counts in the 223/standard case zone. I recall one failure with 6.5 creed?

I have one with over 1000 22-250/22 creed but I gave up trying to be the smallest cartridge to blow and moved mine to 223s.

Seems like most failures are big cartridges.

Maybe the guy that's writing Ryan and Jake a 13-page letter about cursing can make a spreadsheet for us.

I have about 1300 rounds through mine and it hasn’t broken yet. I don’t know that’s really a “high” round count though. I’d say that ~ 1250 of the hose were 6.5 creedmoor, the rest was just a bit of 308 and 30-06 when I very first picked it up.

Anyone had a Harvester evo go poof? Thought early in this thread there was mention of it.
When I bought my Thunderbeast I wanted a second can for my kid at a cheaper price. Kinda dumb. Scheels was running a sale that day. Impulse bought the Harvester Evo. I usually let the tism loose and research stuff before I buy.

I emailed Silencer Co about using it on a 16.5" 22 or 6 creed. They said it'll be fine.... So far on the 6.5 Creed it's been good. But I know that short 22 will be asking a lot of it.
