Weird, you would think all the welds would be done by an orbital welding machine. They should be perfect.???????
There’s nothing magic about an orbital welder. If it’s not setup correctly, the welds can still be poor. Additionally, while the outside of a weld can look pretty (or less than pretty), the real question is what the inside of the weld joint looks like.

I just got my Scythe yesterday. Welds look ok. Not perfectly even but I’m not overly concerned with that. I don’t have any direct experience with Ti, so I’m not sure if I could tell truly good from bad, and as noted, I don’t know what the inside of the weld looks like or what other factors in the incoming pieces or welder setup would lead to mixed bag of results being reported here.

The can will start on a 6.5x55 that I still need to thread, so it may be a bit before I have an adequate round count to know one way or the other.

No, got a couple hundred rounds of 308, 6.5 grendel and Creed, 6 ARC and 243. All 18-20" barrels. I really like it so far.

Shot ~300 rds 6.5 PRC 18” barrel and ~300 rds 300 WSM 19” barrel. Had to pay return shipping. It appears just as new now that I have it back. No questions asked by them.

Dang, they really made you pay return shipping on a failure with “no barrel length restrictions”?

No failure on both mine so far, but that said they are both used on lower pressure setups.

one has ~500 .308 at 22" including a few semi rapid fire sessions that got it pretty hot
the other is dedicated to a 300blk with an 18" barrel and has never gotten beyond warm to the touch

The one that has been used on the 308 is now on my 24" kimber 280ai so we will see if that causes any issues in the future. It was purchased for a custom 22" 280ai that isn't finished yet. Suppose if it blows apart Ill just swap over to my rugged alaskan ti until silencerco gets it sorted.

This did occur to me as a concern for early adapters of 7 backcountry. Going from 60k psi to 80k psi isn't a small bump. Combine that with expected shorter barrels and I kind of wondered if a few suppressors might start breaking down.

No

200rd 300prc
350rd 6creed 18"
200rd 6creed 26"

I use it sparingly as it's my hunting can. But I'm about to unload another 250rd of 300prc on it getting my load perfected.

Close to my most expensive can and my first SiCo can. If it blows apart I'll be pissed mainly because it will probably shred my cover.

I shot close to 1k rounds down my wolfhunter between my two 6creeds this year and it's been nothing but perfect and quiet as a church mouse.

The pictures of the failures look like the weld joint is good joining the baffle to the tube but the failures look like they occur from the weld thinning and weakening the tube just past the baffle.

Luckily most of these failures have been at the range. Imagine having it happen on a hunt and not being able to find the detached piece. I bet they wouldn’t warranty it then.

When my Harvester separated I never found the end and they didn’t give me any trouble. The can I got back looked brand new but obviously had the same serial number.

The failures have me thinking this is the reason for their production shortage a few months ago. I have a few hundred rounds through one of mine with several superformance 168eldm rounds on an 18” 308, 22” 308, 22” 300wsm with some decent charged loads. No issues. Then the other one only has 6 rounds through it 24” 300win with 81.4gr n570 pushing a 200gr pill. Has me hesitant to shooting that one more now that it is a custom blend cerkote.
