Considering getting a Tikka T3X…

I’ve never reloaded for the 6.5 CM. I have a good idea what bullets I want to use (147-grain ELDM), but not the best powder. I need to research that some, but in the meantime, any suggestions as to the best powder to use?

And, ideally, will any of these work well in it?

H380 - currently only for my .22-250
H4350 -
H4831 -
N140 -
N130 -

Okay, so it looks like the H4350, which I already have in abundance, is a great option.

I have been hunting a t3x in 308 for four years. I use factory and my own loads. It's just an accurate gun. I kept the synthetic stock on it because it is light. I have a limbsaver recoil pad on it. I don't feel any recoil. I'm not kind to her. She gets bumped and dragged all over the place. It never let's me down. And it gets shot a lot because I practice with it quite a bit.

I purchased the t3x in 308 because you have so many loading options, especially with a 165 to 168 grain bullet
Do you have a particular load the gun shoots well? I recently got one and am having a little trouble.
Thanks

I’ll revive my own old thread to post a picture of the rifle I ended up getting and to ask a couple of follow-up questions.

1. Should I get a RokStok for it? If so, is there a particular configuration I should purchase?

2. I am interested in a reflex suppressor (over the barrel). I know the UM folks are about to release one, but are there any other good alternatives to consider? I have nothing against UM, I just want some good comparison points. I already have a Scythe Ti, but the safety record doesn’t inspire me with confidence. To be blunt, even though I am only using it on a bolt action 6.5 Grendel, every time I pull the trigger I think about whether it’s going to blow up.

Oh, by the way, the one I got was 6.5 Creed.

Answer to 1 and 2 is NO.
Wait til you use the rifle and know if you really like the rifle and caliber. Spending all that $ on a hunting rifle for relatively short shots seems crazy to me...but it's not my money.

I already know I hate the stock it has now. It looks and feels cheap. The LOP is also too long. So it needs to be replaced. My consideration is really RokStok or some other stock.

For your wants, I'd sell the whole rifle and buy the 16 inch threaded 308 with wood stock.

Ain't nuthin for me to hold a gun mailed to me and decide "naah, that ain't it". I'd take a Bandsaw to wood stock if too long.

I bought it knowing it wouldn’t be perfect, but the same was true of all the factory options.

Anyone here have recommendations for replacing the plastic OEM magazines with something made out of metal. I am sure the OEM magazines work just fine, but I want to get at least one metal magazine. I've already ordered the PR Precision stainless steel bottom metal. I have been looking at aftermarket magazines from Beretta, Mountain Tactical, and HCA. Any recommendations between those? Or another manufacturer?

Ive never used anything but the oem mags, but have never had any hiccup in thousands of rounds across a pile of mags. Ive heard enough horror stories about most of the aftermarket mags (both hca and MT in particular) that Id just recommend not getting rid of your oem ones until youve proven to yourself that the replacements function in your gun, in whatever stock you end up with. New stock can cause feeding issues and may need a little fiddling to make sure bottom metal sits at the right height.

Is it MT who makes the ones beretta is selling?

I plan to keep the OEM magazine. You can laugh at me all you want, I just want a metal magazine for when I look at the rifle. Even if it’s “just as good”, the plastic parts will always feel cheap to me.

Well, it’s good you like looking at that metal, because at least the mountain tactical one stick out the bottom so you can see them. I bought a couple, then immediately got rid of them as soon as I put one in to test fit. Never even loaded one.

I can see the OEM one sticking out too.

Some of the factory Tikka stocks look pretty good. (Not yours though, lol.) They all have too much drop at comb/heel for use with scopes, imo.

Since you plan to replace the stock, there’s many options. From Sporter to LR ergonomics, there’s improvements to be had here:
