Senate vote public lands sale

Could’ve been done without all the sensationalism. The map the fake for sale signs on public land. Some guys need their clicks though.

Ok, so we're going to laugh at hunters systematically opposing the sale of public lands, somewhat hope they lose the fight out of pure spite, because there was some sensationalism in the opposition?

Who said I was laughing and hope we lose the fight? I just answered your question what could’ve been done differently. I called and emailed my Senators. I don’t need the sky is falling type to persuade me to do so. It gets old.

It was a reference back to IdahoBeav's response "There is also a minority group of hunters that grin from ear to ear seeing other hunters (generally a conservative group) jump in bed with left wing politics in order to, they believe, preserve public lands."

There is a camp of hunters that has emerged in all of this who, much like the predominate sentiment of the ORV community, are entirely uncomfortable with criticizing Republican legislation so, even though they don't necessarily want to see public land sold off, they are more comfortable criticizing the opposition to Republican legislation than they are opposing it even if it is against their own self and user group interest.
That's a weird row to hoe, but they seemed determined to hoe it nonetheless.
On the positive side, you could create a successful small business by selling boot flavored lollipops to them.

I haven't gotten any response from Nebraska's senators yet. But both have been posting on social media trying to sell parts of this bill, so it feels like the vote is coming up.

Keep calling! Keep emailing! Keep posting on thier social media!

I was talking about Rokslide mods banning some members that couldnt stay on topic...

Lee doesnt agree with the Federal Government owning ground...hardly a reason to start killing people over.

Selling off the land that you, me, my children and every other American collectively own, against the wishes of the constituency, to enrich himself and a few donors seems like a fine reason to me. We used to hang traitors now we re-elect them

Dude, seriously, stop it with the calls for violence.

If it keeps getting tossed out of the BBB. People are going to have to be extra vigilant as he will try to toss it in somewhere else. At least the BBB had a lot of people watching it. The next bill it rides on my not have the amount of people paying attention to catch it.

No doubt. One possible silver lining of this entire mess is that Mike Lee has become a household name, well beyond Utah.

Here's an interview with Mike Lee on the Charlie Kirk show. I scrolled through the comments and doesn't seem that this legislation is fairing well with Kirk's audience. Kirk and Lee try to frame this as "we aren't selling national parks so chill out, liberals"

  • 2-3 Million acres to be sold for "affordable housing."
  • Will include a lot of USFS lands, not just Dept of Interior lands as in the House amendment and FLTFA.
  • Proceeds used to offset budget gaps, not replacement lands as per FLTFA.
  • Lee's language has Montana exempted from any land sales in hopes he can gain the votes of Daines & Sheehy, votes needed to move it forward.
Oof... this hurts my heart a little. We know the sale of public lands will mainly be used in other parts of the congressional bucket to make up for overages and shortfalls. As much as I'd like for the aforementioned items to come to fruition, I don't agree with the sale of public lands to do so.
