I've emailed Lee what I think of his public lands efforts, directly but respectfully. I also told him if he persists, while not a UT resident, I will send $ to his primary opponent in hopes he loses his seat.

I've also asked Bentz to hold the line, which I believe he will. I know some members of that family, they are genuinely good people and he is a man of principle. I have no doubt his no vote will stand.

I believe you are correct but Lee said he was going to try a third rendition. I would keep up on your senators as he could sneak something in last second.

Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) has introduced a scaled-back version of his proposal to make some public lands eligible for sale after the last version was shut down by the Senate Parliamentarian.

A nice sentiment. But don’t forget the law of unintended consequences. A dark horse primary win will likely put an anti-American socialist as Mayor of NYC. If you think defenestrating any candidate you disagree with on a few issues will necessarily result in a better result for every other issue, you are not thinking clearly.

As a whole, yea, there are a few things that many people agree with him on.

I posted in another thread but when it comes to politicians it is hard to find one that you agree with on every single thing. Lee is no different. I disagree with him on this stance yet agree with him on others.

Mike Lee , senior senator of Utah, chair of the Senate Energy Committee is trying to push through a new bill to sell our public lands.
Lee has put a side deal together with his Montana senate cronies so the state of MT will not participate in his public land sales, because he knew they would vote against him and his bill.
I am mostly a republican but ready for a 3rd party. This land bill proposed by Lee has corruption, greed, unfairness , good ole boy under the table dealings written all over it. Making MT exempt, really? You can’t make this sh** up!!!

I’m thinking plenty clearly. My hope is he will have a strong challenge from a candidate with a good known track record. Then rational choices of whom to support can be made. Won’t be any anti-American socialists being nominated in a Republican primary in UT.

This is pretty important for people to start getting okay with again - Reagan and earlier, legislative accomplishments were made by building what were called Floating Coalitions. There was no 100%ism. In Congress, someone who "only" agrees with you 85% of the time isn't an enemy - they're one of your closest allies.

Lee's pulling some scummy stuff with the dirty way he's trying to get this land sale through, which speaks more to his character, but he might be extremely important for Utah to keep if they want him as Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee and voting 90% or 95% of the time in ways that help Utah and its people.

Can you name 5 of his positions on issues other than this bill? Neither can I.

And by your definition “anything” includes a political adversary that might be 100% pro public lands and 100% anti-hunting.
