Screw worm warning!

Live imports. They'll still bring carcasses across with no way to tell really where they come from. Lots of beef from Paraguay and Uraguay get sold in Brazil and then hauled to Mexico. The US has had a ban on imports from both for years but the Packers still get around it.
Nailed it, first step is to pass origin labeling on beef!! Then you can start fining them, plus make the burger market not near as attractive to them

Canada is going to cry but they can get over it

Haha if Mexico is too damned stupid to realize that it will starve their own damn people F-em man. They have done nothing but stir shit below us and poison our people with their narco cartel run state. It’s not like they are a great neighbor, they are awful and don’t deserve a fraction of the aid or attention that we give them. If they were some awesome ally I might agree with you but they are a trash neighbor

Whatever. Developing mutually beneficial trading relationships with other countries isn’t junior high school.

Screw worm ain't the only issue. Bangs and hoof and mouth are gonna be brought back in this country if we aren't careful and that'll destroy the cattle industry.
Bangs (brucellosis) is, and has been here for ages. They tested every cow for "Bangs" (brucellosis) at the auction barn as they unloaded them.
Brucellosis is one of the many diseases spread by feral hogs along with pseudorabies.
Anthrax was first discovered in America in Jim Hogg County in South Texas near the Mexican border!

In kindergarten we learned our actions have repercussions, intended and unintended.

Is anyone surprised that we treat Mexico like the enemy this year, wage economic war on them, and for some reason they aren’t thrilled to cooperate with us?
The screwworm in Mexico emerged early 2024. Probably covered up and hid it for some time before that. U.S. ports were closed to live cattle in November. We have never been able to depend on Mexicos' cooperation with any issue.

Thankfully the government worked ahead on a lot of these issues to reduce the threat of future outbreaks/attacks. It would only take weeks to respond to possible out breaks in the future if their plan works.

You must be a tick rider for USDA? That makes the only viable reason to want to foster the madness known as Mexico Ag

But when has screw worms, BVDV, bovine tuberculosis, and Boophilius ever been beneficial to trade?
the wacky last government administration and there supporters didn’t do the USA any favors for sure , when they started letting millions of immigrants come here unhealth tested, we are In the near future are going to start seeing a huge increase in human birth defects from ZIKA VIRUS ( which is both a mosquitoes and STD virus) & Oropouche virus
The migration destroyed all the tick fencing that will eventually cause havoc with agricultural production,
New world SW flies are just the tip of the iceberg, of exotic species and diseases we will be dealing with in the near future.

I finished my research thesis working as a research assistant for the USDA
Collecting tick data and blood samples from animals on the USA & Mexican frontier/ border region,
It’s definitely in mexico economic interest to merge with the USA to create a better environmentally friendly zone all the way to Panama

It’s probably hard for some that haven’t grown up Ag and border facing to truly comprehend the situation both currently and historically along Texas border, but instead of being experts they should at least try to listen to others that have.

most don’t even know the Government where gunning down Nilgi from helicopters to try to stop them from crossing back in and forth to U.S. carrying fever ticks

Yep they did helicopter kill a bunch south of the hwy 183 line , that was the area that I was stationed, that and Kennedy, brooks, Jim Hogg , star counties
But imo nilgai are impossible to fence in or out ( as they are now in Mexican territory, and are popping up in maverick, webb , dimmit )
Plus when the Rio Grande floods it sometimes tears down miles of tick control fences, which infected animals cross,
I have probably gunned down hundreds of wild Mexican cattle between the river and the tick fence, and they are infected with everything from blue tongue to screw worms,, brucellosis, ect!

People are going to start freaking out when ZIKA & Oropouche virus starts getting into the human population, much less when we start having beef , pork shortages, and deer, elk , pronghorn disappearing in numbers

Folks that haven't experienced "border" just can't comprehend that the drug cartels don't give "two hoots in hell" about human life, much less cattle, wildlife, screw worms, sterile flys or anything else except controlling their "territory" and extracting trespass fees out if anything or anyone who comes near.....and they DO NOT fear the US or the US military.

Trump offered to send in military teams to oust cartels, but the Mexican president refused.

The Mexican cartels along our southern border are charging something like $3500/flight for the helicopters to release the sterile flies in Mexico.
Back in the 50's and 60's, Mexico was tickled to allow those flights for free if it helped beat back the pest.

Biological warfare? Perhaps it entered NA via the Darien gap? Many problems enter our neck of the woods through there

For those that live along the border, do feral Mexican cattle cross frequently? Is Mexico all open range? Do they have a feral horse problem too?

I've never been to the border so I'm genuinely curious

Yes , with the drought making the Rio Grande super low , cattle can basically walk across, and the river has lots of Cain and brush growing, so they have lots of cover to hide in, plus there’s also goats and deer that flip flop back and forth
No Mexico isn’t open range and individual ranches are fenced,

The drug cartels keep half starved horses on the US side of the border.
They move them to Mexico, load them with contraband and turn them loose. They return to the last place they were fed.....in the US.
This works especially well between El Paso and San Ysidro where there are no natural obstacles.

So you all can shoot the Mavericks? Or is it a if I didn't see ya, ya didn't do type of deal.
