If you want a heavy pack, bring enough for everyone.... :)

I can certainly do that but it sounds like steaks and lobster are winning out. I don't blame them either. :)

If anyone wants to try some homemade dehydrated elk or turkey pasta, let me know. I'll make extra.

I would love to try some! I need to try making my own food. (I mean my wife does)

If my 2013 Kryptek clothes show up, I'll be bringing them for sure.

Not sure what else I'll through in. The guys who have hunted with me know I don't pack much "extra".

I'll have my new super lightweight shelter and sleep system for sure.

I'll tell you what, if you pack me a meal of dehydrated elk pasta to try, I'll pack you in a beer. I'll warn you though. I eat a bit more then the average bear.

Guessing it's Idaho State Bowhunters (ISB?) Jamboree??

Mike

That is correct. I might get out and do a little scouting that week while I am up there, my Pronghorn tag is good for a few units up that way and there are usually plenty of goats running around. I would like to make one of these hiking trips once though...

Got you three down for a meal. It will be slightly bigger than a typical MH and take about 2.5 cups of water. We will see. :)

I don't drink much but when it do it's normally beer (any kind). Gonna' have to cool them down in the lake. :)

I don't want to step on any toes or ruffle any feathers, but what about you fellas just joining the Kifaru Rondy? It's going to be a drive in deal this year. I'll be picking Aron and Patrick up at SeaTac on Thursday and we ought to be at camp between 4-5. There's a pretty cool ridge running trail for those that might want to go spend a night in the hoombla and there's a nice place to safely shoot out to 300ish yards within walking distance without disturbing camp with ultra-magdumbs (I'm bringing mine! :) ). There's quick access to another location where you can safely shoot as far as you want without disturbing anyone. Big chainsaw fed white man fire. Lot's of food. Potluck style. Lot's of new goodies to look at for show and tell.

Anyway, just throwing it out there. You can get a hold of me at [email protected] for further details.

Thanks for the offer. I wouldn't mind going one of these years. For this year I'm going to stick with the backpack trip.

Only reason I'm not going to the kifaru trip is that we had planned this trip back in April and I was committed. I just learned of the kifaru trip in the last 2 weeks. I sure am bummed about it though. Maybe next year they'll be on different weekends!

First I heard of it. Seems odd that nothing was posted here (that I could find) or that Aron didn't let me know. Sadly I committed myself, so unless the majority change their mind, I'm going to stick with the plan. You guys chime in what you think...

I'm with you Conlan, I would really like to meet Aaron and Patrick, but this trip was set up back in April. If everyone decided to do the rondy I would be in....

Well, as far I'm concerned, I sacrifice heading into the mountains for car camping only to spend more time with my kids. They are going to be busy that weekend. So that means I'm in the mountains.

That, and I can't afford Kifaru. Wish I could, but I make do.

I'm sure no one is locked in permanently. I would suggest everyone does what they think will be the most fun.

In all fairness, we've had a summer rondy about this time of year going back almost a decade and the announcement has been on Kifaru's message board for a while. I get that not everyone has a few forums they check in on. No problem. Just extending the offer. Everyone's going to have a good time either way!

I am pretty bummed that there was a lack of communications in the matter of the the ROK hike and the kifaru camp. I would like to attend both, but I signed on to the ROK hike early on and unless there is a big movement towards scrapping the hike in am walking in!

Hey ya'll can't believe I've never seen this forum, Hells canyon informed me of it a few days back and most likely heading up to Schaefer with ya'll.. Sounds like a good time, don't really have any fancy new gear to try out but it's tried and true just like the Pendleton I'll be hydrating with on the hike in!! :) looking forward to meeting everyone.

Welcome crabcreekhunter! Glad you're going to make it!

Bushcraft,
Next year we'll make sure and plan our hike for a different weekend so we can do both.

Welcome bud! Should definitely be a good time I'll be bringing some Pendleton as well, in a gatorade bottle of course... Since we'll likely be hiking in together you want to save some weight and only pack one spotter?
