I gotta get in on this. Too much crap eating last several months. But after I get back from a cruise in a few weeks. Moderation is key...

I’m in. 5’9” and about 195lbs right now after too many work trips, eating like junk and the holidays. Need to drop about 20lbs. Basically for me it’s a Keto or Carnivore diet and exercise is the only thing I’ve found that works. I’ve tried the counting calories thing while exercising and while it usually involves dropping a few pounds it never really works for me. I did really well a year or so ago getting down to about 175 but work got stressful and we moved into a new house and I started traveling for work more and I let myself go a bit. Not good.

I'm in on this. Chalk me up as a Covid casualty. I swore I wouldn't get fat and lazy like so many others but did anyway. I've got my justifications but it doesn't matter. I'm 6' and was 220-225 in late 2020. I'm a bigger guy and been a lifter for over 20 years. I kept lifting but went off the rails with my diet. I was pushing 260 earlier this year. Funny enough, I've clearly put on extra muscle I didn't have a couple years ago thanks to all the extra calories, but added even more fat in the process. No bueno.

I wasn't waiting on the new year to lock it up. I started easing back into and getting right early last month. I'm locked in now. Diet is MUCH cleaner. I'm still lifting 3 days a week and doing 60-75 minutes of cardio a day. I'm feeling great. Down a few pounds already. I'm literally praying I can keep this going. Intermediate goal is to get back to 225. Then ultimately to about 205. I just turned 37. LFG!!!

My wife wanted to try whole30 to start the year out, so I am going to do it with her. After all the indulgence of the holidays it sounds like just what the doctor ordered. I am 43 years old and 6’3. At the end of a good hunting season I get down around 190 and then get back up to 200 after Christmas. I always feel so good when I am in peak shape and need to maintain it better. I hope between healthier diet and exercise to even out around 195.
OP: I smiled at your slightly puffy description.
I think you'll enjoy whole30. I've done it a few times myself and the wife and I are trying to commit to that style of eating for most of 2023. For us, it's a great transition into growing or sourcing most of our food locally.

I've never felt better than when I'm on this type of diet, it's just been hard to stick to for long periods of time. Find whole30 snacks to help when you need some food quickly. Best I've done is 70 days.

One day at a time!

Gonna weigh in every Friday and post it here. If you are like me sometimes accountability is the extra push you need to get the ball rolling!

I’m in, I’m doing a modified version of Bill Phillips “Body for Life” program. It will be interesting to see how it goes at my current age. I’ve done it a few times with amazing success, the first time was probably twenty years ago, I went from a spare tire around my mid section (24% body fat) to a six pack in twelve weeks.
When I say modified, I don’t think I’m up for the weight lifting as much this time. I sold most of my equipment so I’m still trying to figure out how much lifting I can manage.
His cardio plan is the most effective I’ve ever done and the best part is it’s only 20-22 minutes every other day. There is a science to the whole target heart rate zone.
It is so damn hard to plan meals though, that requires as much effort and discipline than the actual workouts. I noticed he has published a cookbook since I did the programs before so I ordered that to try and figure out a good meal plan.

6’2, weighed 225-230 in September/October.

Currently hovering around 295 after a jump back over 300 after a cruise and the holidays.

Accepted a friend’s offer to use his gym to lift with him twice a week starting soon, and continuing my diet of less pop (almost none) and way less fast food. (Healthier lunches or at least one of the frozen microwave healthy choice meals.)

Restarted my daily 1 mile+ evening walk on the treadmill and reintroducing a weighted pack/ruck (20-30lbs) tonight.

Have an elk hunt in Montana being planned for this fall and want to be in shape to enjoy it.

Introducing running an additional mile without weight in the coming weeks.

Short term goal weight: 250 by end of march-ish

End of year goal weight: 220
Summer goal: run a 5k race
End of year goal: Disney 5k on top of family vacation

I am in for the extra accountability. Doing this to improve my health for wife, kids and future grandkids, hunting is just bonus.

45 years old, 6ft. 215 lbs.

2023 Goals:
-15 lb weight loss minimum by May 28.
-Touch my toes again, flexibilty is key as one ages

-Counting cals with MFP
-Atomic Athlete free exo version a few rotations each year..each one usually drops around 7 lbs on me.
-Lots of rucking my favorite cardio. Easy on knees, my lovely wife usually walks with me. We actually get some time to talk and not be destracted by kids, phone, etc. Helps our relationship.

I'm in - coming up on 43yrs old. 6'2" and the last 15 or so years have snuck up and taken it's toll. Currently sitting at ~270# (down from just under 300# which was my apophony moment a few months back...). Attempting to get down to 225. Honestly, without stepping on a scale, I wouldn't have guessed I was pushing 3 bills (just a bigger-proportioned guy). Looking to attempt my first elk hunt (OTC Colorado) in the fall of 2023, so hopefully enough time to get myself back into some semblance of shape - at least to where I am not a holdup to the hunt! Eating better, cut back on the whiskey, keeping track of my caloric intake has helped a lot, been getting up at 3AM weekday mornings to get a 90min exercise/workout in before work (kids and life don't really allow that later in the day/evening. I will hold you accountable if you all assist me as well!

My healthy weight is right around 145 pounds. I'm a little high right now at 150. Would like to be a fightin' man's 150 by elk season. So basically keep the weight but trade fat for muscle. I also want to be able to run 2 7 minute miles, and a 5k in a good time.

I did Tim Ferris' 4 hour body thing a few years ago. Got big (for me) but the muscles were mostly useless--they couldn't finish a P90X workout with the same gusto I had built other muscles with. This year I'm going to do a hybrid 4 hour body / P90X kind of mentality. I sub in running or biking or stair stepper for the P90X cardio days (don't like plyometrics or kenpox).

Perfect timing.
37 YO and 5' 10"-
Started last year in May at 261 and dropped to 208 at my lowest (when I returned from a 10-day archery elk hunt). Sitting at about 215 now after the holidays and am aiming for under 200. Back to workouts 5-6 days a week consisting of a combination of weights and treadmill work/ outdoor rucks on the weekend when the weather is decent. Paleo'ish diet seemed to best suit me last year, lot's of protein, no carbs, and water. Try to stay away from anything with more than 1 ingredient.

Stretching the tape at 6'2" and 225 now. Usually hang out around an active 210 all summer when a person goes full blast from 5 am to 11pm and start gaining weight sitting around at moose camp and peak out this time of year. With 3 kids in 4 years, the cold, and the lack of daylight; it's extremely hard to find the time to work out but most of my problem is around eating.

We usually do whole 30 to reset after the holidays. Starting it on the 15th after all holiday parties are complete. It typically extends a few months to the spring when things start to get crazy again and we're always on the move. The lowest I can get with perfect eating and exercise is just under 200 lbs. I'd like to just stay below 210 with a goal of maybe getting back to 200 by end of summer.

First Check-In: (drum roll, please) 220.4...

Ok, so not the start I was hoping for but my wife did say that she thought I looked thinner. I know what you're thinking, she's my wife and she said that to make me feel better. What you don't know is that my wife is pregnant with our 3rd child right now. And I'm not talking about the sweet, glowing pregnant where everything is rainbows and butterflies. No, not this week. This week it's the "You're lucky I didn't kill you in your sleep for making me like this" pregnant. So I feel like it was sincere.

Halfway through another week, two days before another weigh-in.

How's everyone doing? What are everyone's tactics?

Lately, I have been in a wrestling match with my mind over snacking. I say no snacking but my brain makes the point that we get exceedingly bored at work every day and snacking is a great way to kill time. It's been a tough match.
Other than that I have worked my way into a "Mediterranean" based diet, I figured I have tried everything else so why not this? Also, I have the unfortunate luck of being one of those people with very poor genetics when it comes to cholesterol. So we will see where this goes.
I'm digging my heels just yet on counting calories. I've played that game before and I realize the efficacy of it, I'm just not mentally ready for that yet. Maybe this week's weigh-in will be the straw that breaks the camel's whatever. Who knows?
Exercise-wise, I have sort of committed myself to a run/race in early February so most of my training has been tailored to that. I like running but, to be honest, I'm ready to lift some weight again. I'll go back to doing both after this whole race thing has passed.

Let's hear it my fellow fat - er... I mean, fluffy friends.
