Lost our mastiff Bella in March, then lost our lab Lexi in July. Shitty year for sure.

Blue dog.
Only lived one short year. Came along at a time when I really needed unconditional love. Saved me from rough patch. Deeply miss that pup.

It’s amazing how the sense of needing to get home to take care of the dog/cat can give you something to look forward to.

A couple months ago, we had to put down our best friend Chloe. She was a 10 yr old Golden Retriever. I really loved that dog. She helped my wife through some really dark times. So much so that I that I don't know if my wife would have made it through without her. About a year ago Chloe started losing weight. Vet couldn't figure out why after numerous tests. She just kept getting weaker. Finally she tore her ACL in her back leg. A week later she tore something in her front shoulder. At this point I had to carry her outside to go to the bathroom. I'll never forget the day we put her down. I was sitting with her in the living room saying my goodbyes crying and getting ready to take her to the vet. Finally I went into the bedroom to just be alone. She could barely stand, let alone walk. That dog knew I was upset. She came hobbling in a few minutes later to check on me and stood next right next to me. That was the greatest act of kindness and loyalty I've ever experienced. I will miss her.
