I need to spend more time with mine now that I have a tripod adapter. Last match I was at, I had to hold targets on the outside of the O at the 12 o’clock position to get the same ranges that were in the match book. How confident are you that the laser is actually calibrated to range in the center of the O?I didn’t “love” the big hollow O at first but after using it in the field nearly every day since I bought them in January, the function is excellent. Especially when used on targets in steep hunting terrain where it’s very easy to mis range an animal using a cross hair or dot style reticle like many ranging devices use.
In your opinion, is the modified diamond as big as the O?It has a modified diamond reticle if I remember correctly.
I didn’t care for the big️ at first but it quickly grew on me as well. It just seemed to work
The inner “openness” of the diamond is a fair bit smaller than the circle from what I recall. I only messed with them for like 5 minutes, but was not impressed so I handed them back and went about my business. With @Ryan Avery having a couple pairs I’m sure there will be a lot of good info posted once they get around to it.In your opinion, is the modified diamond as big as the O?
Whether you range this 10” target here…I need to spend more time with mine now that I have a tripod adapter. Thank you! Can't wait!Nice! Good luck this year!
I was just going to ask @mxgsfmdpx what targeting mode he leaves his in. Do you leave it in this setting for most of your shots? Any reason to switch to one of the other targeting modes?I use the "near" mode and put the object I'm trying to range in the bottom 1/3 of the circular reticle. That method works excellent most of the time.
Yes I leave it near and range everything just as I described. Normally animals/targets are in front of terrain, and it's easier to pick them up in the near mode. Far mode will want to range past them more often. The "long range" modes just aren't necessary for hunting. They range like 3,500 yards and you need to keep the reticle perfectly stable.I was just going to ask @mxgsfmdpx what targeting mode he leaves his in. “Near, Far, Long Range Near, and Long Range Far”

Another benefit in addition to the ones @mxgsfmdpx described, is that the inner diameter of the circle is 1.5 mils, which is quite useful when spotting. It has a modified diamond reticle if I remember correctly.

When I received mine and determined that my beam was shooting at the bottom of the circle reticle I called Gunwerks and they said that my deviation from center was within their tolerance. Doesn't bother me too much as mine centered up left/right so I just hold the bottom of the O on what I want to range.I believe that Revics are one of the few rangefinding binoculars that are calibrated from the factory to have the beam hit where the reticle is. Your range discrepancy was likely from being in the "far" mode and catching whatever was behind the target, and by holding at the 12 o'clock you made the target the farthest object the beam hit.
Same with the pair I had…..at least when they worked. I talked to Revic (GW) today. Looks like Gen 2 will be worth the upgrade:
- a lot better glass (not sure where this puts them compared to the Geovid R’s)
- better & faster RF
- better SW (hope that also updates Gen1)
