I managed to pull a 40% off a leica at the last NRL shoot.
My current optic setup is a maven b2 11x and a revic BR4. (kowa 66 spotter as needed)
The mavens are showing their age, probably need a refurb, but have given good service since 2018. The revic is new. And i like its capabilities. The wind vectoring is handy (gets the aerojump right etc...im still a rookie at wind calls)
Obviously using 2 units is costing me points in an NRL context....
But the primary focus is spotting fury little creatures across the mountain side. if colorado provides i'll have a rifle tag this fall. But i wouldnt say im a primarily rifle hunter. I dont think AB has good data for roundballs.
A pair of 10x42 noctivids would be a decent upgrade and a timeless choice and id never need another bino. BUT they are out of stock. looks like they only have 8x42s. Im dubious on dropping down to 8's when i really want that long range tripod capability (talking 2+ miles, was spotting elk at 3.5 with my mavens).
From everything ive seen and read pretty much all the RF binos have missed the boat in some regard. And i could see any currently available set being essentially obsolete in a few years. Thats a tough pill to swallow on a $3600 optic (even with 40% off).
As a side consideration, leica is increasing prices may 1st! (i'm going to call and see if i can preorder a 10x42 noctivid at todays rate).
How would the Geovid PRO AB+ binos be for standalone glassing? would they lose anything to the noctivids? am i being too harsh on the 8x42, would they be adequate for spotting deerts at say 1.5-2 miles?
Any thoughts on the usability of the ballistics output on the pro ab? Im not finding much info. Leica is really slacking on the marketing.
