Recommend a 9mm pistol

Which 9mm?

Have you looked at the Glock 43X.
Not sure about the threaded barrel, but it was one of the lightest 9mm when I researched, and we've been happy with them; my wife and I both carry them.

I’ve personally used the following:
Sig 365xl with a Wilson combat grip module.
Glock 19, 17, 41, 45, 49, 34.
CZp10c.

All were reliable and would be an easy recommendation.

I originally got the sig for my wife. But then after using it in a course, she decided she liked the G19 more. I enjoyed the sig with the Wilson grip module, but moved on from it since I liked other guns more.

I’m much more in the single action only camp these days.

I see that Springfield will be releasing the 4.25” Prodigy with the aimpoint COA soon. What would your wife think about that as an option? As a combo, it will probably be right at or jus above your combined budget.
There's definitely a lot of great Springfield offerings. I'll have to do a deep dive into the COA, it seems like the new hotness in red dots but I know nothing about it.
SW Bodyguard 2.0

I know you mentioned optics cut and not a 9mm but maybe something to consider.

Mine shoots 95 FMJFP’s reliably and accurate.
Not looking for a micro, but thanks for the suggestion.

I'd take a look at the 365 Fuse. Basically a 365 Macro, but with a full length slide. And the Extra $30 over a macro also gets you an extra magazine and a magwell. It's pretty easy for me to conceal carry, much more comfy and slim than a G19 or P320.

The FN Reflex XL was my second choice when looking for these size of pistols. It had by far the best trigger compared to the sig, glock springfield, etc.

So I'm in the market for a new 9mm, something that is semi compact to full frame with an optic cut and threaded barrel for compensation/ suppression. I want to keep barrel length less than 5" without muzzle device in case I want to conceal carry. This gun will ultimately be carried by my wife.

I own a few Glocks but am no means a loyalist, so I'm looking for recommendations of what everyone else likes and why. Pistol budget is $1k. Yes, I've read all 36 pages of this 9mm post. Unfortunately, I don't have a range that does rentals close to me so I can't go demo options.

Currently the following are on my immediate radar in no particular order...please vote in the poll.
Glock G19X
Springfield XDM and Hellcat
Sig P365
FN 509
H&K VP9AIK
S&W MP2.0m
When you say carried do you mean like a concealed daily carry, or carried on hunting/camping trips?

You mentioned already having some Glocks, is there any feature of those you wish was different, or particular things you hope the new gun does differently?
Has she carried before and what is the preferred carry method? Purse, AIWB, or traditional behind the right hip IWB?

All of those things may affect what I would pick.

Not knowing any of that, G19 with COA will probably do anything a person needs to do with a pistol.

I've got this listed in the classifieds.

Entire setup for $1050.

Xmacro Tac Ops, rmr cc, Mcarbo trigger spring, T1 Holster, TT extended mag. Comes with four mags total.

I like the foot print of the gun. But after buying my Kimber 2k11 I need to recoup financially

I love Glocks. If you're looking at a Glock and if you tinker I'd probably build one. Because I like to tinker and swap parts around. My Gen 4 19 is basically gone. I only have the frame sitting on the shelf gutted at this point. Traded the slide into Angled Spade for their slide. Now I have a Gucci Glock.
Stock Glocks are still my favorite striker gun.

She will carry in a bag and hip or chest holster, not daily, moreso camping/ hiking/ traveling.
I like Glocks. Just seeing what else is out there that people recommend. I don't mind the utilitarian nature of Glocks and don't really care for a flashy pistol. But I'm sure there are some that are more shootable (hence considering a comp/supressor for range time) maybe with better ergonomics. The plan for the weekend is to get a few pistols in her hand to see what she likes best.

I have a SW Shield X that’s done very well for me in this capacity.

I have small hands and short fingers and it fits me well.
They also have a comp version now they should help with recoil.

I carry a Walther pdp compact myself. They do have a F version for female. The few ladies I know that carry have a MP shield and another has a 43x.
I'm liking the Walther pdp the more I read about it.

Not looking for a micro, but thanks for the input. The M&P is appealing however.

I own or at least shot most of these pistols. Nothing beats a decent 2011 trigger but within that budget I'll always reach for the P365X + Macro frame + Ramjet.

My wife picks her own guns . Currently her 9mm's are a 365, a CZ P10s and a P10c . She carries the 365 a lot but shoots the CZ's better. But her hiking and fishing gun is a 44 mag single action. My personal choice for a midsize 9mm is a CZ P01 . I still like hammer fired guns.

Have a ported shield 2.0 and a shield plus. The slides swap btw. Ports are a night and day difference. Found I prefer the single stack. Lil gun has its place.

For what his ol lady is doing? I'd grab a 4" gun and call it a day. 5" gets dumb to pack around and zero reason to go smaller

"The plan for the weekend is to get a few pistols in her hand to see what she likes best." This is the absolute best thing to do for her. I have seen a lot of women struggle in classes using a pistol that their husbands picked out for them. My wife used a G26 for years and now uses a 43X with the 15rd Shield mags.

Honestly, more bullets on target quicker.
