Rancher charged in attempted stealing of elk horns from helicopter hunters

Hey Spike so your saying it would be kinda like screwing you neighbors wife until someone catches on. Good while it happened until you are told it’s not yours to do with what ya want.

Seems more akin to putting a fence around a public pool and using it for you and your friends, knowing damn well you didn't pay for it and that it belongs to everyone, then getting pissed when you found the public there

If either of you, or anyone for that matter, say they’d be anything but bummed, miffed, pissed or mad.. if the same thing happened to you after countless decades of what seems like one of the most badass honey holes all to yourself or paying clients, I wouldn’t believe you.
But, legal is legal.

Can’t really argue that! I’m sure I would.

Your response speaks volumes to your character. You would happily build the fence around the public pool (that thier money is paying to maintain and preserve), watch families come and go with towels in hand unable to get in, and chuckle to yourself greedily knowing you'll be able to go there tomorrow and have it all to yourself.

Would "I" be the least bit upset if this happened to me? I can't put myself in that hypothetical situation, because I can't imagine me doing that to other people.

It is thievery, plain and simple.

A nasty piss filled pool is the weakest synonym imaginable when attempting to discredit my character or opinions on this particular subject, but whatevs.

Just fyi- I’m not condoning the ranchers decision to hide the head, that was moronic.

It’s a damn shame, but it looks like they’ve got a solid defense against the hunter harassment charge based on Wyoming’s definition of “process”.

(a) No person shall with the intent to prevent or hinder the lawful taking of any wildlife: (i) Interfere with the lawful taking of or the process of lawfully taking any wildlife;

(h) As used in subsection (a) of this section, “process of lawfully taking” means travel, camping and other acts preparatory to taking wildlife if occurring on lands or water upon which the affected person may legally take the wildlife.

https://www.fishwildlife.org/law-research-library/law-categories/harassment-hunters-trappers-and-anglers/wyoming-harassment-statutes#:~:text=Wyoming's%20harassment%20laws%20for%20wildlife%20include:%20*,of%20up%20to%20$50%2C000%20for%20subsequent%20violations**
Does failure to pack out the antlers violate anything in WY? WY doesn’t require proof of sex attached, that could have been their proof of sex. Stealing it interferes with them legally complying with the hunt regulations, does it not? Hence it interferes with them LAWFULLY taking the animal (which has requirements on what needs to be removed to be lawful).

That’d be my thought.

So you'd be more or less likely to take peoples access to a piss-filled pool?

My argument has nothing to do with hiding the head. That was moronic and petty, and probably done impulsively. I've been a dick to people impulsively and regretted it, I'm sure we all have. Stealing someone's access to a resource that belongs to them (the land, in this case) like this takes significant planning and investment.

I’m not or wouldn’t steal shit, so
choose your words more wisely.

I’d be pissed, is what I’ve repeatedly said.
As well as, legal is legal.

I don’t fault the hunters, nor do I give a crap about their planning or investment.

Clearly money wasn’t an issue, so the planning aspect is moot considering how much planning it takes to do true backcountry diy elk hunts…with a bow, solo, and be successful multiple times.

Couple a rich dudes parachuting into a landlocked honey hole, whacking a few clueless bulls with suppressed rifles and then plastering the whole thing on their favorite socials may tickle your taint, but clearly we’re cut from a different cloth.

You said you'd be pissed. You're siding with the rancher's completely unjustified, emotional response to someone still accessing THEIR OWN RESOURCE after the rancher attempted to steal it from them. But you're letting it go because "legal is legal"? But now you're telling me you'd never do this? Why? Because you don't have the money (like most of us)?

The planning and investment was done by the rancher, or maybe he just thought it was a nice perk. I'm glad to see rich people fight rich people because I don't have the money or resources to. I hope every hunter than can afford $10k/yr for hunting flies helicopters into landlocked public and posts it on social media until the state makes this theft of public land illegal.

First we see landowners suing because guys used a ladder to corner cross, now they're pissed someone used a helicopter. They're pissed because they stole a resource and someone is still using it.

Edit: what the **** do suppressed rifles have to do with this? Are you one of those guys that kills with an atlatl and thinks everyone else is cheating?
