That ridiculous - the economy has been going so well anyone who wants a job has one. The idea that a recession was going to happen any day never came and to now claim we were in a recession and just didn’t know it is ridiculous. Just accept the economy has been better than any other country in the entire world and all the whacko stuff and how it is going to effect the economy coming up this year is 100% on Trump.
I’m not an economist - just keeping an open mind and sharing info! I don’t think that’s how recessions work though - I don’t think a bunch of banks made poor decisions on a Monday and the recession started on a Tuesday (bit of a delay for the 08 recession).

Well the government is ultimately the reason for inflation due to the printing of more fiat, right? America is the best at crony capitalism.
No, that’s my point. They were responsible for some of the inflation. When record profits are being realized along with price increases it also points to a portion of the reason for the cost increase as corporations taking advantage of the sentiment that it’s all governments fault and price gouging.

A very conservative fiscal policy does not guarantee a strong currency. An overly conservative fiscal policy will result in us being left behind by countries with a more balanced fiscal policy. Losing buying power and market share.

A concern I see with the entire process is how freely the American people have taken the word of people that arguably never really had to work for a living to determine waste. I'd venture a guess to say that none of the parties involved are familiar with life in the working class, or utilizing public land Evidence of this is demonizing seasonal federal employees as "waste"....many of those positions hover around the poverty line and are hardly a drain on the system. It would seem highly possible that many of the decision-makers would view things the average joe values as waste. For instance, I'm pretty happy when I see the green truck with the pressure washer show up in the campground at the pit shitter on a holiday weekend or see younger adults that are dedicated to some sort of field that is a service to others like wildlife or other natural resource surveys. Yes, govt wastes money, yes, needs cuts, but going after the bottom end only looks good on paper, there are much bigger fish to fry, firing all the bottom level truly makes the admin look corrupt, dumb, or both.

How are they only going after the bottom? I'll bet $100 the shitter will still be pumped out at your parks. Surveys will still get done. USFS will allocate their money towards areas that matter and, gasp, cut in areas that matter less.
How many millions of Federal money do we need to spend on transgender mice studies to keep the parks going? How many TV shows do we need to pay for in Afghanistan? How many condoms do we gotta pay for in other countries? They're not just going after the bottom, everything is bloated and yes there will be things that people don't like to see cut, just like a wife with a closet full of shoes doesn't want the CC taken away she's gonna complain. Nobody likes cuts. I've had to cut my hunting and fishing spending, it sucks, but I gotta pay for food after the last 4 years and have learned to prioritize where my money goes. I'm cutting my hunting budget because the Federal government funneled $34.4 million of my money to Politico and won't stop giving my money to Ukraine.

Well then if that is the case, how are all the hunters going to feel when wildlife research on deer, elk, antelope, and other species are cut in favor of research on “endangered” carnivores, truly endangered salamanders, lizards, butterflies, and small mammals? I’m just trying to put this into context so if it does come back around, I’m certain that many people will be livid to see research on more common ungulate species stop while “endangered” grizzlies and wolves take up the funding. Personally, I can tolerate that but I’d be willing to bet many others here will not.

No economic degree required - it’s repeating the mixed up talking points that are designed to confuse people into not fully thinking through what has happened and what will happen. What amazes me is how people are so willing to buy into half baked ideas at face value.

Pretty sure Elon admitted he made up the condom story and followed it up with admitting many of the things he's reporting are not true so I'm kinda focused on that as it pertains to his credibility

what doesn’t guarantee strong currency is being able to create more of such currency with no actual backing, besides trusting some entity that obviously does not have our best interests in mind.

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of how money is appropriated for projects. Money isn’t pulled out of thin air for pet projects, but is allocated by congress and you may not agree with what congress has approved, but it’s the way the process works. Trying to eliminate congress and make all decisions by the executive branch sounds good as a sound bite, but isn’t realistic and isn’t how the system works.

Budget for 2024 6.75 trillion. Tax revenue under 5 trillion. Nearly 2 trillion deficit. one of the largest in history by the way. Where do you think that extra money came from?

Give an entire country those big Covid checks - huge Covid checks for small businesses, and that spike is what you get. That’s squarely on Trump. If you’re going to use a sound bite you should know what’s behind it.

Nobody supported that, never should've happened and if we had Elon back then he would've stopped it.

You can thank the great orange one for the tax cuts for big corporations that are just now about to expire. Look at the gigantic spike in spending trump had and the decreasing revenue to pay for it. Think about what’s behind the talking point, rather than just repeating it.

You voted for it. You get credit for whatever he does good or bad. It’s all on you.
Elon doesn’t give a rats ass about helping the little guy. You’re way out in left field if you think he’s doing anything other than for himself.

So uhh where did that extra 2 trillion come from? You can’t say someone has no fundamental understanding of money and just regurgitate nonsense yourself!

The problem is these guys are desperately trying to root our negatives and spewing Democrat talking points straight from the old playbook and rooting for this administration to fail. Same old oh those evil rich people they want to eat your children blah blah. They'd love nothing more than to report back here all the problems and failures, it would make them giddy. Anybody with half a brain knows this government, all of them no matter their letter, needs to stop spending OUR money on waste. Anybody not on board with that is lying to us and themselves trying to push an agenda. Elon is rapidly identifying the most ridiculous wasteful spending but we just hear them crying about how it's illegal and he can't do that. Lmao it's like Idiocracy movie.
Definitely some of that going on and it’s not productive.

I think a lot of people are having knee jerk reactions and are truly scared right now. That makes it hard to actually have a well thought out conversation. But I think we do need to be discussing it/keeping tabs on it!

Maybe we can get this thread back on track!?!?

Personally I think we will see a lot of changes in conservation/the environment regs/agriculture (driven by RFK and others). I highly doubt they get it 100% right and there will be some set backs, but I’m hoping it sets us up for success in the future!

We live in some weird times right now! We have one political party where some want to destroy public lands or sell it off vs the other side that wants to cover it in solar/wind farms and don’t think we should own guns/hunt. We have people on this hunting forum dug in on both sides fighting each other 😂😂😂 (my opinion is they both suck)!
