18in SAUM blank arrived today from Carbon Six. Pretty surprised it showed up. Just under 3 months, I was expecting at least 6 month wait. Heading to the smith to get it spun for 150 classic hunters. Now if my Eform can just slide through for my Nomad LT.

That's awesome! When did you place your order? I put mine in around the beginning of Dec, but they are reaming it and throating it as well as putting it on my Tikka action, trying to be patient, but this gets me excited!

I'll get you a weight, but it is the featherweight contour. It'll also lose some weight when my Smith gets ahold of it.

Last I heard is they have the SAAMI spec reamer with the 0.090" freebore and a longer freebore reamer for the medium actions and 180gr bullets. About a year ago they only had the SAAMI reamer and wouldn't do a custom throat.

I'm in the process of sending a rifle to GA Precision to have it swapped over to a 7 saum. I found 100 PCs of brass, and bullets are findable. But man, the search for primers and powder is killing me. Anyone having luck in that department?

This was my first time ordering a barrel and I just gave them a call before making the order. I talked to Gene. He said they had a sammi spec reamer and then would use a throating reamer to ream it to my dummy round. Not sure if I'm explaining that correctly, but that's how I understand it to work. They've been great to work with so far, Gene's been really helpful the couple times I called with questions. That was in early Dec, so may have gotten other reamers since.

18in SAUM barrel is done. I'm sure it'll hammer, as Marc from Spartan Precision Rifles did my last one and it was a tack driver. Going to shoot 150 Berger classic hunters out of it. Need to get a weight with the Nomad LT and see where it's at.

Here’s a 7 RSAUM on a Rem Model Seven action and a lightweight Heym HF barrel blank (top rifle). Shot a small buck last year at 375 with it and it’s a hell of a handy rifle.

Is that a 22” tube? I have a factory M7 7saum that I’m thinking of having shortened to 20”. How do you find the recoil?

You can find brass. Just have to be vigilant looking around. I called adg and found when they were making a batch of 7 saum. They do everything in batches. Then I called a distributor and preordered mine. Then waited. Took maybe 4months.

What contour is that? did you have them do a sammi chamber?

It is the lightweight profile and I just got the blank. I have Spartan Precision Rifles do all my chambers and barrel work. He's extremely familiar with the 7 SAUM, and custom throated it for the 150 Bergers

It was a long wait but finally got it together. Coming from a walnut stock kinda clan, im not sure I’ll be able to warm up to it.

Shot it this weekend and averaged 2959 fps with factory remington premier 160gn Nosler Partitions.
