Tried to mimic the Proof Glacier Ti - Defiance Anti, Proof 7 SAUM Prefit and Proof stock. NXS 2.5-10 on top. It’s become my preferred mountain rifle.

@fatbacks thats sweet. I’ve got everything but the barrel, might go the same route. How much does that weigh?

Would any of you share what cost you have in these builds? I am beginning to look into a 7saum or 7ss build and wondering what I should expect to pay, ballpark. I have a build with an Allterra stock coming so checked out their site to see if they had stocks and they say out of stock. Figured if I like the one I have coming I would maybe do another. While on the web site I saw their guns and the Mountain Shadow is exactly what I want in a rifle but they want $6k for one. Is that just what a good build runs or are they on the high end?

Hey mine is near identical.

Tikka t3x stainless action
20” carbon six 1-8 twist
Area 419 20 Moa rail
Zeiss ultralight medium rings
Zeiss v4 6-24x50
Mesa precision altitude stock
Trigger spring
Shooting 168 Bergers at 2800 FPS
Ultra 9 suppressor (when It gets here)
Cheap but light magpul bipod
Still waiting on the suppressor of course. (Currently at 280 days since check cashed)
One thing I would change next time is to not get a saami spec chamber. Would like to run bullets out a little further or even some heavies but it shoots great so can’t complain.

What’s this weigh? Planning to do the exact same build other than going 7mm Sherman max

I'm currently looking at a 7 saum build. I have a long action purchased already. Before I tell my smith to order the barrel, what kind of speeds you guys think I can get with a 24 inch barrel and 175 grain bullets? Is 3000 fps possible?

I hopped on the Tikka 7SAUM bandwagon

Not quite finished product, but getting close. Haven't torqued the barrel up yet as I need to find a gunsmith to throat it for longer bullets. Scope came in Monday, but its too close to the barrel for caps even with Hawkins highs.

What color Cerakote should I go with on the barrel ends and the action?

T3X Lite Alpine Veil action from JA outdoors
18" 7SAUM Carbon6 Prefit
Grayboe Phoenix in Desert Sage
Mt Tac factory bottom metal
Lumley bolt handle/knob/shroud
Salmon River Solutions 4" MLOK ARCA Plate
Hawkins Hybrid 25MOA Rings
Vortex Razor LHT FFP MOA

8.5lbs scoped, 3rds loaded. Will be just over 9lbs with a suppressor

I found a deal on a Spuhr hunting mount so the Hawkins will have to find a new home now.

I’m only getting 2730 with the 175 ELDX out of my 24” barrel but I have limited powder options and am using H4350. I could prob squeeze out a lot more velocity - was no where near pressure, but accuracy was so good on this node I stopped there. Even at that lower velocity the bullet stays above expansion velocity to ~900 yds - well beyond what I am going to shoot an animal at.

Thanks for the info. I have reloader26 and N565 to work with so I may get more than you have.
Both are the top choices for speed. H4831sc and RL23 are also good options from what I have read but I have only used 565 and RL26

Remington 700 SS SA mag bolt face donor (used 300 wsm)
HS Precision stock (used)
24” Proof sendero contour
Vias muzzle break
Precision armament bolt knob
Trigger tech primary
Talley 1 piece 20 MOA rings/bases
Sightron SIII 6-24 scope
Sniper grey cerakote on all the metal
Shoots 168gr Barnes LRX at 2843fps into tiny groups

Its kind of a poor white trash semi custom build. Everything was bought cheap, on sale and/or used. I think I have something like $1800 in parts including the optic. A gunsmith friend of mine put it all together. I’m really happy with how it turned out. I’ve done several other nicer builds since this one but I have just as much, if not more, confidence in my 7 SAUM than all of the others.

South Texas nilgai HATE this rifle!!! Oh yeah, and the Dagestan tur in my avatar photo also. 🤣🤣🤣

Here’s a 7 RSAUM on a Rem Model Seven action and a lightweight Heym HF barrel blank (top rifle). Shot a small buck last year at 375 with it and it’s a hell of a handy rifle.
