How do you like the action?

It truly is a great action - not a lot of people know about them. The feel is every bit as good as a defiance anti-x, same great quality Kelbly is known for. These will catch on when the general masses get to feel them up. If you have a shot to get one, don't hesitate, they're a heck of a value!

I wanted to go with the Ultra 5, but went with the 7 as most people recommended that. How do you like it with the 7SAUM? Any chance you have shot the 7 also, much of a difference?

There is a noticeable difference in sound - however, the 5 still gives tolerable suppression even when target practicing. Its a terrific balance for guys looking to be conscious of overall length.

If overall length is a non issue - the 7 gets the nod - however, the 5 is no slouch!

I am wanting to build the following in 7 saum:
Mausingfield Short Action
Gunwerks Clymr Stock
Gunwerks Bottom Metal
18" Proof Carbon 1:8 Twist
Triggertech Special Two Stage

Any advice on changes to the above would be appreciated.

The 7 PRC is a long action, so that'd be hard to do on the short.

My 7 SAUM project I put together over the last 10 months as a "cheap" first rifle build

Savage Axis action and recoil lug
Glades Armory bolt sleeve bolt handle and bolt knob
Desh Ind bolt lift kit
Carbonsix 24" magnum profile barrel and nut
Oryx chassis
Anarchy outdoors 20moa rail with Warne 30mm maxima rings
Maven RS.1 scope
Unknown Munition/SRS hunters rail

All together I have maybe 2500 into the entire thing. Was hoping to be able to use it this year but lacking ammo kinda hinders that.

Have shot over 200 deer and goats with it at distance from 70 to 930 yards.

I might be able to push these a bit more but I was happy with the accuracy, so I was fine with the velocity.

Also, since shooting suppressed primarily now, I find my barrels getting shorter and shorter haha. So much handier with a suppressor.

Been poking around on our 1000 yard range this summer with the saum, im loven it! 168 bergers at 2980 fps.
