Peak44 Issue

Hey all,

I ordered a Peak44 Blacktooth stock on October 1st, and it took 7 weeks to be made and delivered, arriving on November 20th. Upon inspecting the stock, I found that the forend swivel stud was either overtightened during assembly or the threaded sleeve was pressed too far, causing cracks and material breakage inside the barrel channel opposite the stud.

I immediately contacted Peak44 customer service, and they responded the next morning. They provided a return shipping label and informed me that a replacement stock was being added to the build queue for expedited production.

Seven weeks later (the same amount of time as the original wait), I received the stock again. Upon inspection, it became clear that the stock had been repaired rather than replaced. It appeared that new material had been applied over the damaged area, and the original stock was sent back to me.

This was disappointing as I had been under the impression that I would be receiving a replacement stock, not a repaired one. The process took 14 weeks, and in the end, I received the same stock with a repair that could have likely been completed in a few days. I called customer service to express my concerns, and they reassured me that the stock would still be covered under warranty and replaced if it fails in the future.

While customer service has been responsive and assuring, I’m still hesitant to keep the stock since it doesn’t meet the expectations set by the original communication. There was no follow-up informing me that the stock would be repaired instead of replaced, and it almost seems like I’ve been sent back a repaired item to be passed off as new.

Has anyone else experienced a similar situation with Peak44, or do you have any advice on how to proceed? See attached photos of original vs repair.

Not sure what your plans are with the gun/stock but I would ask them how quick they can get one to you and if FedEx delivers to the backcountry?

Would suck for a stock to fail on day one of a seven day hunt and know your going to waiting seven weeks to get a new one.

Unfortunately shipping anything to alaska is never a quick process.

Wow , that’s pretty crappy of them. I would want my money back or a discounted price. You paid for a new product and twice now you haven’t been sent one. I can’t understand how they think this is acceptable?

I ordered a stock from them Sept4, got shipping notice today. Over 4 months when they quote 90 days. Hopefully it's perfect. I'll be quite unhappy if I have this issue. I'll likely demand a refund, VS a repair.

When i spoke with them on the phone I was more concerned about the warranty aspect. I sent a follow up email expressing my concerns and asking for policy and in writing that they will back the product/repair. I was hoping that they may offer some kind of discount when they respond. Doubtful but we will see.

My issue was probably cause for your delay. My bad. Haha
Did you order a blacktooth or bastion? I wonder if that would make a difference in lead times.

Bastion, I'm excited to get it.
I was planning on one of those for another rifle. I'm not gonna lie. I'm a little disappointed with the blacktooth. There are a couple of micro blemishes that someone else may not notice. I only noticed because I did a real thorough look this time. I may have just been one of the unlucky few. The quality outside of my issues seems to be great.

My blacktooth took longer than 90 days to receive and I immediately had to send it back. There was something loose in the stock so it rattled; likely a piece of debris from manufacturing. Since the butt pad is glued on, I couldn’t fix it myself.

ETA: This is as of end of Dec

So maybe they have a quality control issue during final assembly. Sounds like both of our issues were after the stock was molded and the finish work was being done. Hopefully you have a quicker turn around for yours.
