PA House Bill 1431 - Repeal ban on Sunday Hunting

Sunday hunting should be allowed. You don’t want to hunt don’t hunt. Want to hunt. Hunt

The fact is if it’s a religious argument there are less people going to church today than at any other point in human history. So while I may not disagree with the day of rest thing not many seem to care so I won’t hold that against them.

At the end of the day though hunting is a dying sport so any chance to keep people involved is welcomed by me. If Sunday helps that then let’s hunt.

I wasn't implying that I did. I was speaking about land that I own OR public land.

I’m just showing you the counter arguments to your cry for freedom.

No right to hunt. Period.
And
You don’t own public lands.

Have you ever hunted in Pennsylvania?
I live in pa and have hunted since I was 12. I hunt 50 days a year here and it’s not what it once was so I don’t know what you’re inferring. I see no body during an archery and very few in rifle. It’s a dying sport

Edit for context I am 35 years old and hunt deer (archery and rifle), bear (archery and rifle), pheasant/grouse, a day or two of duck a year, and rattle snake (albeit that’s based off fish commission), also bear muzzle loader.

At the end of the day it does not matter where I hunt. Most people get two days off a week. Why not allow them to hunt both days?

Our ancestors often paid a lot of attention to the Old Testament. If you read that, even loosely, you start to question the wisdom of tolerating any sin or transgression of the law in your community. If you think that Jim’s absence from church (or Jim’s wife giving him a blowjob, or Jim working on the Sabbath, or Jim going to horse races, or whatever) is going to call down divine wrath on your community, you can become pretty authoritarian and intrusive. It sounds like Hell on earth to me.

I was simply asking if you have ever hunted in PA.

Anytime the government tells you what you can't do on sunday, just know it's really about their desire to have you in a church, mosque, etc. instead of hunting/buying alcohol/buying a car and/or racing horses.

Hard no.

Yes, this year will be my 22nd season and I spend pretty much every weekend at hunting camp from late September through March. Hunting through the week isn’t feasible due to my job and the fact that the closest hunting grounds to my home is 45 minutes at a minimum. As a result Sunday hunting would effectively double my opportunity as I already traveled 3 hours to camp and can hunt right out the door.

Curious why Sunday hunting should be allowed?

I explained it above but I work a M-F job and since I have to travel 3 hours to get to camp it means that the majority of my hunting time is strictly limited to the weekends. Adding Sundays would give me the option for up to 17 additional hunting days without having to use vacation time off work.

47 states don’t seem to have a problem with it. Are we right or are 47 other states wrong?

Do you think the animals know to difference? Most guys go out twice a year in pa. It is not going to make a big difference. I’ve yet to see someone give me a good reason why it shouldn’t happen. I’m glad to listen if you have a good solid reason.

Because some people work from sun up to sun down M-F, some Saturdays too. Add kids in fall sports and there goes more Saturdays. Depending on the start time and how far travel to the game is, that could mean getting a morning or afternoon in or nothing at all. Now add winter sports. Wrestling tournaments part of Friday evening and all day Saturday. If you have kids that like to hunt their opportunities are diminished as well due to competitions and practices.

Sundays would mean a chance to get out for a lot of us. It would also mean a chance to pick the better day to hunt if both weekend days were available. How many Saturdays get hammered w rain? I remember a season a few yrs ago it rained almost every Saturday in archery.

I don't know why someone wouldn't want the opportunity or want to take that opportunity away from someone else.

If we are going to pick and choose what our fellow man should and shouldn't be allowed to do on his Sunday. Then lets take everything away. No Sunday golf, no sunday football, no Sunday racing. Uncle gets to tell us all what we should do.

Don't forget making somebody work on Sunday when they'd rather not so you can buy whatever at the store on your way out to hunt.....
