Hey all, I'm looking to pickup some Kifaru items and I'm currently going back and forth between Coyote or Wolf Gray. Pack will be for urban edc and day hiking, overnight travel, etc. I prefer to keep my colors subdued. I know dye lots can vary (quite a bit sometimes). I've seen Kifaru CB that is an actual brown and others that's are a yellowish khaki color (I prefer the solid brown). Wolf Gray all looks blue to me EXCEPT the wolf gray Antero picture on the product page where the guy is wearing it on his back. That looks like a true, solid gray with no blue to it. Anyone know if there are true gray (no blue) wolf gray colors on Kifaru gear?

I know CB pretty much will work anywhere as far as not standing out to much. What are your collective thoughts on the Wolf Gray?

I originally got a bunch of stuff in wolf gray. Some was true-gray, most was blue-gray though. Was not a fan of the bluish tones, so I sent it back for coyote brown. It all came as the darker brown (I got a new duplex hunter frame, guide lid, cargo panel, and two small belt pouches- a mix of 1000D and 500D). The CB is awesome.

I like the fact that you can find coyote brown stuff pretty much anywhere. Wolf gray is a bit harder to acquire. The only thing I would note, however, is that the CB is not quite so urban edc in my opinion.

Good luck.

The wolf gray has varied for me as much or more than the foliage green did. Each piece has a different shade. And each has a different color zipper. I think it has a sort of blue to it sometimes. The shoulder straps on my frame are a true gray but the belt looks like the older foliage color, I assume it is. The grab it is sort of greenish. The apollo is sort of blueish. Camp bag and belt pouches are pretty gray without the hint of green or blue but are still not the gray of the shoulder straps. Its truly 50 shades of gray with kifaru. I just try to breath and stay positive.

My matching OCD got the best of me with CB and Foliage. Moved into Multicam because of it and couldn't be happier. Good luck with your search.

Well, you are going to run into color variations with any color. Different fabrics take color differently. Different dye lots or fabric runs may show a variation in color. All in all, it's a moot point so pick the color that you like the best and try to buy stuff that is the same kind of fabric.

As for what color, as mentioned above, coyote brown does have a military connotation to it, at least to me, but I think that if your average urban dweller saw a gray pack and a coyote brown pack they would think military with the coyote brown. Black, I feel, also has a military or police connotation to it.

More and more vendors are making stuff in their own shade of medium gray, some are true grays (black + white) and some have other colors like blue or green mixed in with the gray. So, pick a shade that you like and go with it. Another advantage of gray is that you can dress it up with the many OD or black pockets and pouches that are out there and it still looks like they belong together.
