New Packs from Kifaru 2024

I have to agree with @Fins_N_Tines you are reading into it a bit much.

I've been trying to keep this thread relevant to information about the new frames and packs.

At the end of the day guys and gals, I'm pretty pumped that Kifaru has done a redesign. I'm happy they're trying to improve upon their packs with what they believe to be the best way forward.

Certainly wasn’t advocating for 100% domestic production. Just that it’s a shame you don’t care at all where something is produced, as you’d said. That would seem to imply you are comfortable benefiting from slave labor, as an example.

Don’t Slip. if you stretch any further, you might wind up with your head up your ass. There is no point in discussing it if you’re willing to make ridiculous assumptions like that.

Definitely like the looks of the new bag and lid. Clean look. Looks like no main zipper entrance or any side pockets. I like the sail cloth fabric. I have no experience but, in my research, looks like it's very strong, light and waterproof.

Sub 5lbs without the lid.
i think they should have separate compression straps for side and back panel though View attachment 666408
I agree, however due to no zipper access they probably didn't see a big difference in testing. This is a smaller bag 4300cu.in; in reality you won't lose compression as the bag will typically already be full. I could see this being a problem in bags 6000cu.in and above.

It will be interesting to see the flip flop position of some folks who threw tantrums about Seek Outside using Challenge fabric in 2021.

I think it's far superior to cordura and a great move.

Well a Lanner 5400 is 3 oz lighter and has exterior pockets and zippered access.

Those two fabrics are huge improvements over cordura in every way, not quite as light as UltraPE, but the way I see it, Kifaru made a big leap in "tech" with these two new additions.

Depends on priorities. But this is no doubt an improvement on X-pac.

Certainly a viable lightweight option now. I wish I had a better idea of how many bags they intend to introduce. I’m fine with an existing bag to try with Ark frame, but am hesitant just in case they upgrade an existing bag style I like (Stryker/Hellbender).
