I seem to be stuck on the Kifaru Kutthroat. Suggestions on an internal frame 3 day scouting pack? Been a long time Kifaru guy. Really never strayed for 15 years. The Seek packs seem very appealing. More spendy than a Kutthroat.

Have plenty of pockets, etc to swap out if I stay w Kifaru.

Any suggestions?

Think my overall goal is a few day back country loop to scout and run cameras and simply ramble around. Tripod. Spotter. April-September.

Kifaru had a .357 on clearance
Maybe a backpacking brand bag.
I have one of these, check out a few YT videos on it. Made in South America, a modern reboot of Ethan Becks patrol pack.

If you like Kifaru pick up a duplex timberline 3.

i have an ospray that i use for scouting missions, its a 65L packs down nice and small and with loads up2 15 - 20kg its legit and cheap. i use it when im bush bashing to new spots and if they are good i do a little trimming on my way back out.

I've been happy with my SO packs; variety of bags to choose from AND you can pack meat if need be.

They make an even lighter framed pack, the Flight if you're sure you don't need it to haul meat.

I’d say a trip like that is where a regular backpacking pack would really shine. Not carrying meat, so the top end load/weight performance is not needed.

I’ve even thought about going to an Osprey or similar pack for hunting. They generally come in lighter than a lot of the hunting specific packs. Also cheaper. For a pure backpacking in type hunt, there are some drawbacks. But if you generally do day hunts from a truck or basecamp, and hunt as part of a group, you could keep a pack frame at Camp and just swap out when you get your buddies for help.

For three days scouting [which makes me think mild summer temps? Or is this very late season winter scouting?] and no chance of having to carry heavy loads out, you could consider going all ultralight.

Zpacks, gossamer gear, hyperlite, durston, ... they all make frameless and as well as framed packs that will fit everything you need for a 3 day pack while keeping you fast and mobile. You could even look into the whole "fastpack" thing (30l pack with running vest straps). (As long as your other gear, ie sleep system & tent are efficient and lightweight. But upgrading to ultralight for those will pay back double and triple for backpack hunts where every gram counts extra much as you are starting from such a high base weight)

I would say Seek Flight 3 or Gila would be a great choice. The Kifaru 14'r is a great choice
Mystery Ranch has some great 2 and three day packs. Osprey and Gregory have some solid lightweight options as well.

Love the 14'r. Have two of them. Not big enough. I have close to cutting edge gear. And I dont think I could pull off a 3 day in a 14'r even with pockets strapped to it everywhere. One of my favorite packs tho.

The Seek 4800 series has much of my attention. Just don't seem to be too popular or get much love.

For a summer 3 day scouting use case I'd look at something like a Superior Wilderness Designs: https://www.swdbackpacks.com/ultralight-internal-frame-backpacks

It's pretty light and Made in America (Michigan to be exact!).

It only saves a couple pounds over a hunting specific pack like a SG, and you get more durability with SG and you don't have to remember which pack has your headlamp. For that reason I just scout with my hunting pack.
