Mystery Ranch Metcalf Big Enough for 5 Days?

Hoping to pack my camp in with it. Do you think its big enough?

Planning on going with a Klymit insulated pad and sleeping bag if that helps.

It wouldn't be big enough for me, especially with food/kitchen. Maybe for a "minimalist"...

I think it's big enough. Like kotaman said depends on what you have. You could pack food in a dry bag and slip it between the frame as well. That would free up some room. Also strap your tent or sleeping bag to the bottom. A couple options. I think it's doable though.

It really depends on gear. I can fit 5 days in a DT3 and Exo 3500, it takes every last ci but it fits and that is using ultra light gear.

Idk what people are packing around that I'm not but I can easily fit 5-7 days worth of gear in my exo 3500. All that changes is how much food I'm bringing. It is warmer where I am than in the Rockies etc so your location matters too.

I've done 7 in a Metcalf. If the weather is reasonable no problem, if it's cold and I need more clothes I ran out of space.

I did 8 days in SW CO with my Metcalf in 2013. We were at 12k feet. It did fine. Only thing I wasn't carrying was the shelter. My buddy was carrying a SL5, but I had the stove and cookware that we shared.

Consider that fits all that plus you could put a 2500cubic inch load cell between the pack and frame, seems plenty big.

That all depends on you.. I do 4-5 days in a crew cab AND I'm able to take a deboned deer with horns out in one trip. You will be blown away with how little you actually need/want after you have packed your kitchen sink around the mountains for a week. guys that don't spike it much think taking less gear takes the fun out of the hunt since your living/working with next to nothing, but I take next ti nothing in, don't lug a lot of weight around and I'm less tired and less sore than my partners due to lack of weight. And most importantly, I only make one trip out with a animal and my gear, which is worth it's weight in gold..

Plenty more room to sandwich gear between the pack and the lid, before you go sticking load cells between the pack and frame extending the load out horizontally. Also go up before you go out.

My two cents is...if you have to question it, go with a bigger bag. I have an EXO 5500 and love it! Good luck partner!

I did a 9 day bowhunt with a Metcalf. I can't imagine you wouldn't be able to do five days.

Camofire has the Marshall on sale again. Would any reason I should buy that instead?

I agree with a lot of these guys, it really depends on the size of your gear. If between your sleeping bag, pad, and tent/shelter is more than 40% - 50% of your main pocket in your Metcalf you might want to bump for the Marshall.

IMO it depends most on whether you realistically plan on killing something or not. I wouldn't, as I prefer something more in the 7,000 ci range to fit but my gear and meat.

It will work for five days with a modest lightweight gear setup. The meat can go in the shelf. Works pretty well that way.
