Roksliders - looking for real world experience with barrel change systems that can be accomplished in the field WITHOUT barrel vice, action wrench, etc... Two prominent make/models are GunWerks Nexus and Barbour Creek Fusion (Terminus Zeus Quick Change). I also see West Texas Ordnance SwitchLug as a part option.

Any other suggested platforms or products ?

If you are doing it in the field, without trying to rezero, you are basically limited to the Blaser R8 and Sauer 404. Both systems are significantly better switch barrel systems than any domestic option.

I think blaser and Sauer both make one.
Thanks Tock-O. I will look them up!

Thanks for the note Formidilosus. I looked at both. Interesting. Available calibers seem to favor European ones.

Just ordered a terminus zeus sa. Like the idea of practicing all year in a smaller caliber and larger in the fall. Curious to know how often most people actually change calibers or barrels in this set up.

I have a wto tikka. Once you figure out the different zeros between barrels I would have zero issues switching barrels in the field. My setup repeats zeros better than I can shoot.

You can get any cartridge you want (within magazine compatibility) in an R8 with this barrel extension:

I’m planning on 7PRC in very near future

I believe @THLR is currently running a Bear8 barrel extension with 6.5-284 chamber

I have a Terminus Zeus with a 300 PRC barrel and a 6.5 PRC that’s carbon fiber.

I have two different Greyboe sticks bedded for the action. I chose Greyboe because they have a universal barrel channel inlet that works for either barrel.

The DBM is Hawkins who make a magazines that will work for either cartridge on the long action.

After having it for 6 months or so, I have never pulled the 300 PRC barrel off for the 6.5 PRC. Why? Well, because I have the PRC dialed and I don’t want to mess with it. I literally have over a thousand dollar 6.5 PRC barrel, with the chambering, cerakote, threading, and break, just sitting in my Gunsafe. Never once fired.

This is why I am doing hours of research on the Blaser R8 system and plan on selling a very accurate rifle that I have a pile of money into.

Ever had any experience with the R93.

I have the WTO on a tikka too. I have notes to remember the the zero for the different barrels. I have a 7 Sherman max 280 AI 22 Creedmoor and have a 25 PRC on the way. It has returned to zero with no issues every time.
