Erik opitimizes everything wrong with the Instagram Hunting crowd. Seemingly arogant, bad shot, more knowlegable than you, flat brim ball cap, all about horn size, and did I mention bad shot.

I lost respect for them when they stole the idea from Solo Hunter for their rifle cover and charged double for it. Someone needs to tell this group of Millenial Insta Famous guys to come up with some original ideas.

Sad!!! I don’t get who it is that follows these guys and makes them so popular? And when I say guys I’m talking about all the instafacebook celebrities. There are 100’s if not 1,000’s of better more down to earth hunters on this forum that don’t go down this road just to get free crap and a little short term cash. This is what happens when antler, horn and picture size/quality takes over.

What’s sad is new hunters may think these guy’s know something and follow their example.

I think that a majority of people who follow and make these guys famous are people who are introduced to hunting via social media. They see guys like this, they seem cool, and must be good to have a show right?

Hunters who were introduced to hunting by their father or grandfather know a majority of instafacebook celebrities are not anyone they would share a campfire with.

first off, i don't know this guy or details of what he's accused of. from what i can gather from this thread he's fairly egocentric and may not follow the laws too well.

once you make something an obsession and then monetize it...it takes on a life of its own. there are some people out there that will do what it takes to keep that expectation level or surpass it.

there are 2 types of poachers. the opportunistic poacher -- who can't pass up a good thing. just out hunting a spike unit and finds a big bull, etc.
an then there's the premeditated poacher -- who goes out with the purpose of doing what it takes to make their goal a reality, even when it's against the law. they will typically rationalize their actions until the end result justify the means of getting there.

i don't like either type but the latter is so egregious that they deserve every bit and more of what they have coming to them.

Here are the facts that I personally know (either straight from the horses's mouth or court records):
Erik got caught trespassing while elk hunting on private property before 2017.
Erik went back in 2017 to the exact same property to hunt elk again.
Erik wounded at least one bull (mortal wound is a high possibility with a lung shot and broadhead/arrow still in bull)
Erik got caught, again, and this time charges were pressed.
Erik plead guilty and the district court sentenced him in June 2018.
In March of 2019, the Utah Division of Wildlife suspends Erik's Big Game privileges for 22 months.

I don't think that is entirely true. I followed him because I had met the guy out in the hills and he seemed like a nice guy. I followed his Instagram account to see hunting pictures or pictures of animals. What you are saying is definitely true to an extent but I think there are plenty of people out there that click follow because they come across a picture they like or briefly scroll through their page and want to see pictures more often that align with their interests. I know that is why I followed the guy. Having said that, after seeing that antelope video and what kind of guy he seems to really be, I no longer follow him and will not support them in any way.

He might be the most talented long arm trophy photo taker I've ever seen. I watched a few of his archery hunt videos and they were painful between his attitude and crappy shooting

TSD and MHGA are possibly the biggest tall poppy-haters on the interwebs but every once in a while they produce something interesting...

I like TSD more than MHGA but they do produce some laughs. MHGA makes some stretches sometimes that I just don’t understand. I like TSD don’t give a **** attitude.
