I couldn't resist, I had to find the video you guys were talking about where the buck got backup and ran.
Crawling up to that rock without his rifle was just plain stupid, then boom and that buck gets drilled by another hunter, at least that deer look like it died fast. I'm also starting to think this guy hates backstraps given his chosen shot placement I've been seeing.
He loin jobs the buck then instead of staying on the gun to make sure it's down, he starts with the celebration and bro hugs and omg's......amateur! Then he "finishes it" with a shot smack dab in the middle of the ass. What really gets me to, is that he does not seem the least bit upset with his shooting abilities or lack of in his case. All that gun and no skill or talent to match it.
As has been mentioned in this thread, if you are an aspiring or new hunter do not look up to these types for guidance.

What blows my mind is how seemingly careless a lot of sponsoring companies are regarding who they pay or provide gear to rep their brand. More and more it really looks like the brands DON'T care who it is as long as they get the views/numbers. Seriously, PROOF barrels sponsoring a guy with a video-recorded track record of bad shooting and unbecoming behavior?! (Correct me if I'm wrong but I think they sponsor him). Either way, too many brands out there showing poor character by who they sponsor.

Makes me glad that as a consumer, I can choose who I support based on their principles and character, not how popular they are.

I just have a hard time believing that there are that many grown men out there watching or supporting such douche-baggery. But are there really that many teenage tools-in-training following guys like this?

I’ve never seen such a whiny little b**** in all my life. The dude gets to hunt for a living and cries about it all day long while blaming his buddies for anything and everything. I hope he gets caught again and they throw the book at him.

Makes me think instead of just posting on his IG or Youboob which he will remove we should be emailing his sponsors. Might even be a good idea to cite this thread.

I just went to their page to look for their sponsors and what do you know...the page cannot be found. Not sure if it has always been like that or if it magically disappeared. Whatever the case is, they are definitely going to continue to try and hide it.

So they are turning it into a hunt? Sounds reasonable considering the group they are dealing with. 😐

You could still draw conclusions based on his videos and podcast. What logos he displays. Packs he uses, clothing he is wearing. Depending how deep in he is its all product placement by design.

I have only watched the antelope video but based on the 14 minute music intro you can gather who his sponsors are. Also politely emailing a company and saying because of his illegal actions we will no longer support muley freak or companies that sponsor him will also get them to not sponsor if they haven't already. Removing his funding is really the only way to make a meaningful impact.

Do you really want this guy representing hunting?

Looks like suspects based on product placement in videos

If you can even call some of that hunting...but hell no I do not.

Like it or not he IS representing hunting especially if he is receiving funds and products from hunting companies to represent hunting. He is a copy of the email I just sent one of his potential sponsors.

Subject - Muley Freak - Erik Van Woerkom

Body of email,
Good Morning,

As y’all may or may not be aware Muley Freak represents your products. It’s unclear if y’all actually sponsor him or If he uses your products at his own discretion. He does however sell your products on his webpage. Due to his illegal actions within the state of UT I would politely ask you to reconsider association with this organization. I feel he is a very bad representation of the hunting world and industry. You can see details along with facts here. https://www.rokslide.com/forums/threads/muleyfreak-in-trouble.130619/ I personally use and buy your products and I would like to continue but association with groups such as this is more than I can support.

Thank you for your time,

Great email, just one correction though... the illegal actions were in Utah, not Idaho.

Thank you for your time,

Maybe I am misreading your tone/message but we are on the same page about this guy.

That is a well written email and addresses the issue. I also plan to email said sponsors. The only way things like this stop is when there are consequences and Utah failed to do that. 22 months is not nearly enough in my opinion.

Been keeping track of this thread for the past few days, didn’t even know who the guy was before hand.
On one hand, people make mistakes. I’ve screwed up plenty of times and I feel that you should be able to own up to your mistakes and move on in life.
That’s being said though, sounds like he did it twice on the same property! At that point it sounds like he might need a stronger message to learn the lesson. After watching his videos he’s really not who I’d want representing hunting. (Especially the antelope video, take responsibility for your own damn shot).

I don't care for the fact that he represents "US" and the hunting world and industry.

However people "follow him", "like him" and he receives funds and good and services from companies as payment.
That is the basic definition of representing "us" as a group.

Dude, I get it. I don't like the guy either. I am not sure why you are coming off like I am supporting the guy because I am not. Far from it actually.
