Yes they are.
A point that does get lost in the “short fat” cartridge realm, is that long, skinny, and tapered cartridges feed like they have eyes.
Every overbore cartridge throat is going to grab carbon ring and start choking freebore diameter. I've tried the no cleaning method. It doesn't work for me. 5 barrels, all alpha reamers or well specd jgs. After 250/300 rounds I'm pulling powder to keep velocity where it was at by 150 and load dev is done, I've had to continue pulling powder asife goes on. Happened with 22gt, 22cm, and 3x 6cm barrels. I clean the chamber mouth and first 6" of barrel, and go back to shooting. Takes 3-5 rounds to foul back to normal velocity. But doing this I get no velocity creep. Idk, I shoot a lot, my 22cm barrel is 3 months old I'm near 600 rounds. Also the 3x 6cm barrels all over 400 Rd ct and they were shipped with the 22cm barrel. I shoot my rifles a lot. I put almost everything over the chrono unless hunting or training, and I can even do it training most often. When velocity starts to climb, it's time to clean the throat. I've never had a rifle that I can run over 400 rds and keep the same velocity, accept a 28in 65cm match rifle that's running very low psi loads. You just confirmed exactly what I said. The only way you’re getting that velocity with 6 creed is with hot hand loads. Factory ammo numbers are well known and as I said, 2850 is very generous for 108 ELDM.
What 22 Creedmoor rifles “throat” are you having to clean every 75-100 rounds? My 22 Creedmoor Tikka is nearing 1,000 rounds and has never been cleaned. First 300 rounds were spicy hand loads. Last 700 have been factory.
Probably a topic for a different thread.
I'm only getting 2840 from factory 108s out of my 20" 6CM.Are those pretty accurate velocity numbers in your experience? I seem to recall seeing closer to 2950 on the 6 creed in an 18” but don’t own one. I haven’t looked too heavily into the 22 creed
Seems like it’s kind of all over the place between handloads and factory ammo. I’d be handloading and not afraid to step on it a little bitI'm only getting 2840 from factory 108s out of my 20" 6CM.
I think the reason the cartridge list is what it is, because they will need readily available factory ammo that shoots decent. In order to shoot the guns before they ship. And they will most likely provide the info on the ammo they shot in your gun.Sure be nice to see 6mm Remington and 280AI included in the chamberings.
Just throwing this out there for Roksliders to take advantage of, Kinport Peak Rifles will cut/thread/crown for $120, and he tries to do a threading day every week or 2 so you usually get them back in a timely manner. Great guy to deal with. Carry on!
Yup. Benchmark did a couple for me @$185yeah, I’d not be paying anyone $300+ for a chop and thread. Kampfeld was $110 in Feb ‘23 when I had him do a factory tikka tube.
Form and Ryan are steering the ship in the proper direction. Do you really think they would sacrifice a gun and scope not working correctly in order to make a small profit margin per unit as a “gotcha” to customers? Now that Form is part owner of S2H/Rokstock/Rokskope/RokRifle, I'm hoping that his legacy of unbiased, fact based reviews are not gone. His arguments so far in this thread against the very system he helped promote are a bit dubious and sound more like marketeer-speak than I've ever read from him.
I'm also looking forward to great deals on used Tikkas that all of a sudden don't feed reliably
I don't think there's any gotcha, just the overstating of marginal benefits and inflated pricing comparisons. My understanding is that Form is a formal business partner/owner. Not that it makes him a bad guy at all - he should be compensated for his efforts. The difference is going from being paid to provide expert consultation with no strings attached to being financially incentivized to move product.Form and Ryan are steering the ship in the proper direction. This stuff will be tested to hell and back with unbiased feedback. Including Form himself who I’m pretty sure still makes zero cents off of shoot 2 hunt, UM, or MRC products.
So, is everyone going to switch from pimping Tikkas to pimping this Montana rifle? Hopefully, that means there will be some good deals on Tikkas. I'll stick with them. It's amazing how fast Tikka went from being the perfect rifle to not even being a good deal. Lol.

How will this rifle compare to the sako 90 quest? What are you talking about? Multiple
times in this thread alone I have stated that Tikka’s are the best push feed rifle on the market.
You have no idea what you are talking about- I make $0 from anyone in the industry, and have never been paid by anyone.
Just as with @Grundy53- why is it that people cannot produce fact based arguments, but instead have to make things up?
This project is about getting a high quality, reliable proven rifle from the factory, that is optimized for shooting and backpack hunting. Not one penny from this project goes into my pockets.

From what it sounds like, every production rifle will be function tested for 100 rounds and will come with a 10 shot verification group. Would you take that level of QC over a smith putting together a custom for more money?Manufacturers and machining in automated process is very consistent especially if the actions/bolts are all in one fixture and machine. I don't feel they'll have any issues with the actions. It's the "in house barrels" and the ability and or care to detail of the guys who are machining them for fitment. Where are they dialing in at, to what degree of acceptable(or preferred 0.0000) run-out. How often are reamers being replaced? I hope this rifles a success and its all we want it to be, but I'll always the the skeptic to off the shelf rifles.
