Gzus, you must live in a bubble. Not just little guys but high profile Co's and people have been leaving CA in droves. This has been going on for awhile. Far more are leaving or have left than the few bowing to the leftist decree that Georgia's voting policy is racist and leaving GA. Please!

Oh! Here's another biggie! If NY wants to do more tax grabbing the NYSE is threatening to leave. The New York Stock Exchange will leave NY!!!

New York is getting hit hard with companies leaving.

Unemployment may be down but wages are stagnant. We have a lot of low wage jobs. Low wage jobs don’t help us. Low wage employees access more government services. We need real wage growth in This country. Trying to compete with China for low wage manufacturing jobs is not how we’re going to move this country forward.

So if wages are stagnant does a person have more or less cash to spend when their taxes drop by 10%?

If wages grew by 20% across the board but taxes increase 22% are they earning more cash they can spend then if nothing changed?

Wages being stagnant really does’t matter if at the end of they day your actual earnings after tax are less.

Trumps tax cuts helped many outside of those that live in IL, CA, and NY where property values are insane and tax burdens are as well, but hey they have a higher wage just so they can spend 4x more on everything.

Again. Would love some examples. I see a lot of companies leaving republican lead Georgia right now.
in 2019 over 1800 companies left California in a year. Some of the companies that left in recent years include:
  • Toyota
  • Bazz Houston Co.
  • Kulicke & Soffa Industries Inc.
  • Lennox Hearth Products Inc.
  • Hino Motors Manufacturing USA
  • Pfizer
  • Embraer Aero Seating Technologies
  • Superior Industries International, LLC
  • Triangle Brass Manufacturing Co.
  • Kubota Tractor Corp.
  • Panasonic Disc. Manufacturing Corp.
  • Abbott Laboratories
In 2020, Oracle, Palantir and Hewlett-Packard Enterprise were among the companies that announced they're relocating their headquarters out of the Golden State.

Let me know if you need more. That's just California. I'm here all night.

Credibility lost.. Always amazes me when guys can't admit they are wrong and they resort to partisan tactics. We need to eliminate parties. Sad

What’s sad is that facts don’t matter in a world of alternative facts.

Weak reply.
Participation trophies carry no weight on the internet.
There may be a position open soon on Biden's staff for a speech writer. You should get our resume in quick- he ain't gonna be around long...

You pretty much just confirmed you live in your own little isolated information bubble. CA is not at all unique in this aspect, other states like New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Illinois have been hemorrhaging businesses and people for quite some time now as well. You could probably add Oregon to that list too. It's no little secret why this is happening. If you over regulate, over tax plus many other easy to see factors people eventually get sick of it and leave.

Wait til Amazon, FedEx,UPS, USPS start tacking on mileage surcharges to package shipments. Then you'll hear the outrage.

They should do it just like Costco and Uber. Give the fare and then state all the idiotic taxes added on by the government separately.

But sure, raising their tax burden and passing that on to their consumers will really help the little guy.

Nice deflect, I didn't get at all political with you and I'm not going to go down that road. You're here acting as as an agitator and I'm not playing that game.

My man. Stop now. Please.
Your replies are horrible. Weak. Not even topic related.
You have lost. Accept it and move along. For honor.

In the big picture, a mileage tax makes sense as it is passing the cost of highway maintenance to those who use it most, akin to a consumption tax.

Having said that, the application by this administration likely has political overtones as much or more than fiscal ones, so I doubt I will be supportive of how this would be implemented - especially in the context of existing gas taxes that are charged at the state level for this sort of funding.

Jesus you can’t be serious??

The GAS TAX, taxes the users also!!! You don’t think ppl who driver more buy more gas??? And then pay more gas tax??

My man, you kind of took his response out of context. He is saying to taxing EVERYONE who uses the road. RIght now, EV drivers really do not pay a road tax because they do not purchase gasoline or diesel. I like the idea of leaving gas and diesel the way it is and taxing the EV market with that mileage crap. Seems like then everyone who uses the roads will get taxed.

You get up to a $7500 federal tax break when you buy an EV car. That doesn't include state or local incentives. Any usage tax on them will pale in comparison to the money they receive up front. We would be far better off if they simply got rid of the tax subsidies....which will never happen.

People in rural areas aren't going to buy electric cars anytime soon. No hookups and no place to have it repaired. My local tire shop still uses hand jacks to lift trucks to replace tires.

People in large cities buy clown cars. Easy to park on the street or building garage and they impress all their friends in the Hamptons or Napa on the weekends. They amount of miles they drive on the weekends and the amount of tax they will generate will be relatively irrelevant in the near term. If a mileage tax is implemented it will be targeted at those people who drive to work everyday and don't have public transportations available or any other choice. That is where the mileage and the money is. We will end up paying double, not one or the other.
