I think that the tendency to interrupt is part of what makes it a good podcast, though. If you listen to other popular podcasters like Joe Rogan (whether you like him or not, he has a highly successful show) they do the same thing in a lot of ways. It eliminates “dead air”, interrupting with questions helps ensure that the listeners are getting proper context, and it creates interesting conversational avenues. I haven’t listened to a single podcast of his that I didn’t enjoy, but then again I am a real sucker for conversational podcasts.I completely agree. It's hard for me to describe why I can't listen to him but I just can't.
As for the MeatEater crew, Steve is super interesting and an really great conversationalist, but his ego and tendency to interrupt really bother me. It's especially bad when he has any women on the show. Ryan Callaghan is far and away the best on the show- I'd love to just sit and and have a beer with that dude. Janis too.
I agree with your thoughts on ‘ol Cal though. Seems to be as genuine as a fella can get.
What do you guys think of the Hunting Collective podcast? I personally can’t stand Ben o’Brien. I’ve listened to a few that I thought had interesting guests, but that’s more in spite of his hosting than because of it.
