I like that Meateater is taking control over some of their stuff again. They're using different gear and taking control of their content. Sure they're going to still use all the stuff they own, but optics, packs, etc. seem to be more open now.

Also, good, bad, or indifferent, it seems like these past few seasons have involved a lot of guides and private land, which is a break from the public land gig they started out on.

And I still like all the cooking they do at the end of the show
In previous seasons years ago Steve seemed to complain about seeing other hunters on private land while he hunted. I can imagine for him it's gotten a whole lot worse like it has for the rest of us.

How about we all turn off the TV (or apparently in this case the computer) and go hunting?

We don't need Steve to "save hunting" for us. It's built into most states constitutions and the damn governors are out there hunting too. Just go outside and stop watching TV and scrolling Instagram (as I write this on a social forum)

For a guy who could care less about Rinella, you sure can't seem to keep his name out of your mouth.
When did I say I could care less about rinella? And when did I put him in my mouth? I just said he’s like the rest of the YouTube, Insta-famous whores…hush, bro, Bowmar, newberg, RINELLA, etc. I care a lot about them because they’re effing up what I love.

Is there a modern person that you feel is helping hunting?

Personally I am more curious to see how long the Meateater - BRCC relationship lasts.

(And I agree that the quality of the stream was lower FWIW)

At least he doesn’t produce an endless series of videos on how to draw tags and where to apply, or take money from state game agencies to promote otc tags, which now aren’t otc anymore as a result.

Sets a positive, ethical example. Works towards keeping or adding access, maybe some conservation work. Helps with youth, disabled, veterans etc with opportunities. Doesn’t have to all of those things just a couple.
I don’t think we NEED help. I think as a whole they do much worse than they help. Look at Bowmar, the spearing of the bear did far more harm than anybody doing good could help in 100 years.

I’ll say, if you haven’t seen this video it’s worth a watch. Might want to do it alone…

I see it differently, if there’s some causing harm then wouldn’t any amount of help be worth it? The video in your post is a positive example I’d say.

Anyway a lot of us, myself included took this thread off course, let’s let it go back to it’s question about viewing the content, not critiquing it.

These threads are always interesting.
Taking everything into consideration, is Meat Eater (and Steve Rinella) overall good, or bad for hunters?
Some people are just too hard to please.

I still think American buffalo is up there with my all time favorite books, and the original episodes were good. Now they are just about taking celebrities on hunts.

With that said the spot burning meat eater does on such a scale deserves a prison sentence in my world, but I’m just a peasant.

These are just opinions in this thread nothing more nothing less. Not like anyone from there is reading this and think gee we are this big mega corp sell out machine now buying landowner tags to make more episodes all the while flooding public lands with adult onset hunters putting stress on wildlife. We should cancel the show that pays our investors!
American Buffalo was phenomenal.

Are you comparing Fred bear and meat eater? I’m embarrassed for you…
Both made a profit off of hunting videos and outdoor gear. If Fred Bear was 35 yrs old today, he would be on the outdoor channel and YouTube. I'm not comparing the impact both have on hunting. Bear is a legend, Rinella not so much. I do believe both are a net positive for hunting.

MeatEater will have a lasting impact on the outdoor community for the next 100 years at a minimum. No one will know who Fred Bear was in 100 years. The current generation has no idea who he is. Weather you like it or not that's the reality.
