How many folks are sanding the left side of barrel inlet?

I was living with it on the last action I had installed but with this last assembly it looks even closer to the left side.

I already had said I did mine but reporting in here. If you think you need it then do it.

Mine is fine, but I have a sporter barrel in a D-18 inlet.

Now that the initial run is over and the known issues are out, does anyone know the angle of the negative comb? The RS is 11 degrees, my bastion is 5 degrees. Hoping this falls in the middle as the RS requires I run taller rings for full field of view.

I will have to when I rebarrel later this year. CTR profile has plenty of clearance at the moment in a Proof sendero channel.

Also - regarding action screw torque:

65 in/lbs was the ticket. 223 went back to stacking shots as it should.

Put 200 rounds down the barrel on several prairie dog towns over the holiday weekend and I really enjoy shooting with this stock.

I’ll be listing mine with a 12.5 lop on here today. It’s a good stock but I’m not huge on the negative comb and the position of the arc rail.

Got mine today and bolted it up. Found that the stock is contacting the barrel right at the end of the fore end. Otherwise it’s free floated the rest of the way. Anyone else have this problem? Should I wrap some sand paper around an appropriately sized socket and let the drill rip?

I've had PVA .750 taperless and PBB hybrid lite in mine with room to spare.

How wide is that barrel?

I'd probably do the round shape sanding by hand.

Weird. I made sure to seat it onto the lug properly and the action screws are torqued to 50in/lb. Just fired off an email to McMillan.

I'm assuming you'll promptly get an email back with an offer to fix it.

This is why I size up 1 or 2x on inlet, trying to make them fit tight is a tolerance stacking nightmare. Mine is actually a .750 taperless barrel going into a 3b inlet, apparently it looks fantastic and my gunsmith is having a hard time letting it leave his shop, lol.. I fully agree with Nine, sandpaper or emery cloth wrapped around a dowel or deep socket works well for relieving and fine tuning.

Probably easier to just sand it yourself, but I'm sure they can take care of it and also redo the paint for you.

They were very responsive when I reached out about receiving the wrong bottom metal inlet. Offered to ship both ways, mill it out to CTR, then repaint. They will make it right.

I’ll see what the turn around will be for them to take care of it. If it’s sub 2 weeks I’ll let them handle it. If not, will likely sand it myself. Are there any special considerations sanding on CF? Need to be sealed somehow?

I’m not really sure to be honest - I’ll defer to someone who actually knows haha

Is the interior of the barrel channel carbon lined? I don't believe so.......believe it's just the outer shell that's carbon. Everything on the inside thats inlet is just the fill. However, if you are sanding CF, wear a respirator, carbon dust is pretty toxic in your lungs.

Yep. If you want to do it yourself, just wrap sandpaper around the appropriate sized socket and sand by hand. It isn't hard material and comes off pretty quick. Using a dremel or drill is tricky as it will take a lot of material off very quickly and you can't put it back once it is gone.

Yeah just seal it with any paint when you're done, I typically tape them off and spray the barrel channel satin black and call it good.
