McMillan Mountain Tracker LR - Tikka T3 Dev Project

Finally got around to shooting with my stock. Really enjoy the ergonomics, very comfortable to shoot. No issue with the "nub". Noticed my rifle wasn't shooting as tight compared to when bolted into my KRG. Maybe I was having a bad day, but might benefit from bedding.

I saw McM recommended torquing action screws to 45 in/lbs - is that what you all are doing?
60+ inch*lb for me

If there are pillars in place, 65"/#

Picked this one up from Qholum37 in the classifieds. Dropped my 22creed in and Torqued it at 60lbs for now but will add pillars later. Shot a box of ammo through it and its a nice upgrade from the stockys carbon vg hunter. 5oz heavier It felt more solid/stiff like a manners eh1 and was easier to spot shots. I like that I can use my atlas with a pic rail vs a Harris on the sling stud. The sling stud mount works but doesn’t feel as stable. The medium rings seem to be the perfect height for the comb on this stock with a March 1.5-15x42mm. Just got my 22arc tikka bolt back from getting opened up and cerakoted so I put it in there for the pics. Weighs 9lbs 1oz all up

For some reason I wasn't getting notifications for this thread anymore (noticed that on a few others too..), still don't have mine back from the smith yet but DAMN there are some nice looking rifles in here! Glad to hear the good feedback!

Sweet!! That’s a nice set up! Also, pillars come standard in these so you don’t have to worry about that.

Why did you end up ditching yours??
I just couldn't get used to the negative comb. I also wasn't a fan of the almost flat toe line making quick elevation adjustments. I love everything else about this stock; it has some awesome features! It was very comfortable for me shooting prone, probably better than any other stock I've had but, on a tripod (probably 80% of my shots), or offhand it didn't feel right to me. On hunts I find myself shooting prone maybe 10% of the time so it just didn't fit my needs. I went back to my EH1 that I have been shooting for the past few years and that stock and I get along very well!

I do a lot of shooting off of a tripod as well and have no problem making fine vertical adjustments with mine.
As for getting behind a pack or from a bench, I use a squeeze bag in the rear and it is so much easier with this type of stock than one with a non-flat toe, where it always wants to slip forward.

After shooting mine a lot I’m definitely agree with both statements. Not huge on the negative comb or flat toe line.

Interesting, I definitely appreciate the honest experience and feedback. Conceptually I'm very excited to get mine, but there's a lot of members that hate on AG and so far the Alpine Hunter is by far and large my favorite stock, so I won't be biased in my opinion either. The good thing about quality products and gearhead forums is you're really only out a few bucks in tax and shipping if you want to offload something quick, so it's worth trying!

This showed up today exactly 2 months from my original order date. This is the hard edge tropic color which is awesome but I was disappointed I couldn’t get it in the classic forest camo without ordering it in fiberglass. Stock feels great and I like the grip but it’s different, just playing around with it I noticed I had to intentionally wrap my hand on it to get a consistent grip but nothing significant or too noteworthy, probably just due to being a little chunkier. Love that I could get LOP built to my needs (14.5) without spacers. Weighs 33 oz without the bottom metal (plastic) but including the arca and pic rail. Pretty nice stock and excited to shoot it. The rifle/action it’s intended for is at the gunsmith getting a new barrel so i can’t speak to how centered the barrel chamber is but looks pretty good from a cursory glance with a CTR barrel. Edit - I did look it over a little closer and the arca rail is askew a little. Not a functional issue but I am sure I’ll notice it for a little while, and then I’ll forget all about it.
My Arca rail was also slightly off but if you just loosen the screws you can straigten it.

I’ve been on the fence about ordering one of these up and chose to put the decision off until at least after the season, being that I wouldn’t have it in time anyways. But seeing them up ready to ship tipped the scales and I knee-jerk ordered one of the grey/black speckle. Hopefully this is a meaningful upgrade from my Game Warden 2.0 and I don’t have expensive buyers remorse 🤞🏻

How many folks are sanding the left side of barrel inlet?

I was living with it on the last action I had installed but with this last assembly it looks even closer to the left side.
