McMillan Mountain Tracker LR - Tikka T3 Dev Project

Got mine rigged up with a temporary Carbon Six 6.5 CM shorty barrel. Threw a few 120 ELD M hand loads together to see how they ran and determine if the stock needed bedding. Will be spinning up a 18” STEEL PBB 6 CM prefit shortly if it will ever show. Barrel does seem to run closer to left edge of the channel like has been reported previously. Sucker shoots though.IMG_4725.jpeg

Have mine on a bear hunt now. Accuracy seemed very good when I did a quick re-zero with the new stock. Groups of 3 still touching without bedding so I’m feeling good about it.

I'm shooting them back to back today and its same same but different except I'm confirming that the rear control and reticle movement on the Mountain Tracker is better than the Rokstok thru recoil and reset and prep.

I have a couple thousand rounds on Rokstok and a couple hundred rounds on the McMillan.

Neutral thumb position is cozier on the McMillan too.

Both are great though.

My Mountain Tactical bottom metal finally showed up, so I had the chance to bolt it all together. Like others mentioned, the barrel channel is off to the left. Going to have to touch it up when I pull this barrel and install the Proof Sendero sitting on the shelf.

Ssshhhhhh! Don't say such blasphemy on this forum! 🤣🤣🤣

The dimensions are really close between the 2 stocks. The McMillan is blockier and chunkier everywhere it can be.

It might just be the gritty paint that helps control the rear of the Tracker LR.

I ordered some of this to put on a Rokstok where my thumb and finger are grabbing.

I have 3 these Mtn tracker lr stocks, 3 more coming. They're great, available, custom options, will receive in quoated time line, no falling apart recoil pad, no shoddy inlet or finish, can get custom length of pull. You're getting what you pay for in these.

Except I’m pretty sure we didn’t pay for off center barrel channels…. What a bummer. Has anybody contacted them to tell them it’s the same issue on most/many stocks with tight clearance on the left side?

I guess I don't have a Tikka inlet, so haven't had that experience yet, everything else been really square. If you hold some right hand pressure on the action while tightening up the action screws does it remedy this?

Doesn’t work on mine, recoil lug to action fit is too tight to allow it.

I haven't done it, but it might be worthwhile for several of us to check the width of the stock material left on both sides of the forend in the same location as exact as we can. The inlet could be even and the recoil lug slightly turned. I'll try to measure mine tonight.

I did this, but didn't make note of the differences. You could easily see that the barrel channel inlet was crooked just by looking at the stock from top down.

That's good. Not that an off center barrel channel is good, but it's better than a bedded lug being off. Thanks.
