Yes. These are not the factory orings. "Need" is a strong word, but I think you will prefer a tighter turret than factory

Give it a try without.

The factory knurl on the turret is quite aggressive. Which is good because it’s easy to hold onto it. It can be bad because it’s easier to brush against and have it turn unnoticed.

I had mine turn rubbing on a bush I walked past. Lashed to my pack I haven’t had it turn yet but I have had other scopes that would.
