Lightest reliable pic rings?

Are the EGW rails and rings solid, in particular their Keystone rings? Seem to be the same material as Talley, but I haven’t seen the same negative experiences talked about with EGW. Attractive weight and price, they seem to be a middle ground option, if they’re good.

They look nice.

I don't have any direct experience with them, and I don't recall anyone I know using them, either. I like that they are made in USA. I've been using the SWFA rings a lot lately and have been happy with them, but they are made in China, as are the Burris XTR's I use if I want to add inclination, which I'm less than thrilled about.

I just ordered those, I’d prefer those to a rail so hopefully they work.
You won't be able to use pic rings with those, I'm not certain if standard weaver rings will fit. I know the maxima rings will fit weaver bases, but seem to remember maxima bases might have a narrower slot than typical weaver bases.

Nothing that 5 minutes with a file and a black sharpie won’t fix
Do you file the back of the slot to preserve the mating surfaces? Assuming you push the rings to the front of the slot when mounting. If you do something different, why?

Damn, I guess I should try to cancel it or something. I wish I’d fought that.

I was hoping to use the nightforce ultralight rings. Probably won’t work huh?

You and me both. I ordered these weeks ago hoping to be a solution to work towards NF rings. What a piss off. Wondering now if I can get a machine shop to do them nice.

We need the guy who does the nice ti Kimber stuff to make pic two pc rails like this that are pic ring compatible

Open up the slot or try badger or Ken Farrell rings. They supposedly will fit with weaver style bases. I may try the Warne bases on my Montana and see whether I like the rail better.

Aren’t the Nightforce rings lows kinda high? Think you could go much lower if that’s your preference.

Does anyone know what the lowest rail is for the kimber Montana if not using warne?

Good list of all the picatinny ring heights and what fits in weaver style bases too

See if Murphy Precision will make it for you.

The Warne Mountain Tech rings are very close to the UL's., And they'll fit the maxima bases just fine. I have both and would be surprised if they don't come out of the same factory.

@thinhorn_AK gets credit for this but I haven’t tested this yet.

Nightforce ultralight rings on weaver/warne bases. Might be a good alternative to avoid a full pic rail.

Now to see if I have enough mounting room with that setup to fit a 2.5-10 NXS on a Kimber 8400 action.
