Kuiu Icon Pro 7200

I have one. There is a very quick no nonsense review of it. Search the Backpacking forum and you will see it.

I will do an in depth one when I return from Nevada on the 22nd.

I will actually be doing the review as a video review. I will try and cover everything related to the pack while high atop a mountain in Nevada. I think being able to show the specific items I am referring to will help the viewer understand what I am trying to explain.

After reading Doug's short review I picked one up and took it on a three day scouting trip. My opinion is basically the same as what Doug wrote. I only had around 40 lbs. total weight so as far as heavy loads I don't know at this time. It "feels" like it will take them but time will tell. I like the suspension way better than the Ultra under the same weight. Lots of pockets if you like that. I really like the internal lashing straps which makes it really easy to put your load where you want it. The internal water bladder pocket also works well for me. To early to tell much else.

Awesome, that's even better! ;)

Hey guys. Just wanted to jump start this topic again. Anyone have some more experience with the kuiu icon pro lines sense we are now further into the hunting seasons. Heavy 80lbs + loads? In looking into news packs and kuiu is about 4th on my list. But the price is good.

I packed out two caribou (one at a time) including all meat, horns and cape in a 5200. Load was in excess of 100 lbs. the pack handled the load remarkably well, especially compared to previous versions of the Icon. KUIU has a winner with this pack, especially at it's price point. Is it a Kifaru? No, but at half the money, it is twice the pack of anything else in its price range. Great pack for the $$$....

I had a pro 5200. Personally I didn't like it. I thought the bag was great! The frame didn't fit me well. I packed out 1 mule deer and used it as a day pack. Daypack weight was about 25lbs maybe. I would get sore in between my shoulder blades even after wearing it for 75+ miles. When I packed out the deer I am guessing pack weight in the 75-80lb range for 5 miles. I could not get the pack to stay up no matter how tight I had things cinched up. Kept riding down my butt. I actually had to hunch over and hold the pack up with my hands. I sold it when I got home from that trip...... Picked up a Duplex frame..... packed out a whitetail yesterday with a 108lb actual pack weight, I weighed it once I got home.

Elkhunter71, send me a pm and I will give all the info I have learned about it, the good and the bad.

So I got about a half dozen PM's asking about the pack. For those interested, just call me at 916 607 1211. I live in CA so take that into account.

Is the pro going to be quieter than the ultra when it is cold? I have been using the ultra as a day pack and it works fine, but the material is very loud when the temps drop...heck it's loud when its not cold out. Just curious if the heavier material will quite it down at all.

THanks,

I have been running this pack since Sept. Packed out 3 bull elk and a small bear with it. Heaviest load around 100lbs. Very happy with it so far. I bought the 7200 and 1850 bag. I have just used the 1850 bag so far. Waist and shoulder straps are very comfortable and easy to adjust. Pack rides nicely on the hips with heavy loads. Great organized pocket arrangement. Only complaint is a slight squeaking noise from the load lifter straps. Will fix this shortly. Hate to say it but it rides better then my old SG.

Monkey, because I don't want to spend an hour typing on my phone. Simple as that.

Wouldn't a PM with the same info require the same amount of typing.....maybe I am missing something but would like to hear your thoughts on it as well. I can wait until you find a computer/keyboard ;)

I'd like to hear some reviews too, but will also wait until you can post it up here. Anybody use the ultra and the icon pro? curious how the two compare.

I pm'd RosinBag for the info and he was nice enough to give me his phone# to talk to him directly.
