Bourbon

Grabbed a bottle of Four Roses Single barrel yesterday and had a nice night cap. Been thinking about grabbing a bottle of Old Frorester Statesman. Haven't had that in a while and it's been on the mind.

Sipping on some Henry McKenna 10yr SB BiB. Got some Dickel 10yr. Love me some Heaven Hill BiB. Almost anything by Old Forester (except the Statesmen), WT Longbranch is probably a top for me and I have no idea why. I don't know, maybe I just like alcohol....

I’ve had all the Pappy’s, they are over rated and so is Blantons. Blanton’s Gold is much better.

Weller 107, Old Forester 1920, and Wild Turkey Rare Breed are my favorites that one can find. Any EH Taylor small batch or my couple local store barrel picks are always excellent. Four Roses OSBO is my favorite of their ten.
I havn't drank for a while but Blanton is 100% over rated. There are much better options for the money. I think the only bottle of Blanton I ever had was like 135.00, Evan Williams bottled in bond was just as good for 25.00……

Regular Blantons and EH taylor should be $65.
Blantons is not my favorite. I will drink EH taylor 100% of the time over blantons.

I recently learned that a good friend of mine (elderly chap) is a fan of bourbon. I don’t really drink alcohol so I was helping you folks could give me a recommendation for a bottle as a gift.

He doesn’t drink all the time. Rarely drinks more than just a couple drinks. But I found out he loves the flavor of good bourbons. I wouldn’t say he’s any sort of connoisseur at all, but I tried some “decent” bourbons with him and he seemed to know flavors a bit I guess? They all tasted pretty much the same to me other than this overly smoky, disgusting one.

The answer is probably “need more information” but if I was to buy him a bottle with no price ceiling, what would y’all suggest?

If you brought him either of these, he would be a happy man. Same with a 15 year Pappy Van Winkle…

If you wanted to be more reasonable, this one is incredibly enjoyable.
