I like the look of that set up with the hc 4800 and the nomad. If I had the hc thats what i would probably do... but since I don't I ordered the camp bag instead. I researched all over to find the perfect dry bag to use instead, but it just seems like the small price and weight penalty you pay to go with the camp bag is more than made up by the convenience of having a bad designed to attach easily to the nomad.

I think the dry bag would work great for most... but I am lazy and like the idea of properly designed attachment point so i dont have to worry about it haha.

Aron: Are the camp bags in early as well as the nomad? If we ordered both will it be a longer wait for them to arrive together? Not that I am in any hurry as my weekends are booked till april... just curious.

Which Cabelas frame do you have? I have an extreme outfitter frame and bag around here somewhere. I should have a Nomad here at some point soon and I have a Highcamp which attaches the same. I can take a look and take some photos if you want. Off the top of my head, I am thinking that it probably won't work too well but I will check later.

If you could do that for me I'd really like to know! I want a bikini with a nomad but can only afford one at a time for now. I was gonna slap a nomad on my frame for scouting cuz i wont have/need as much weight but could do the opposite if it doesnt fit. If you could let me know that'd really help my decision! and yes i have the same frame. i almost thought about just strapping the nomad on and using the meat shelf to help hold it up till i can get the bikini frame...

Well i have the full alaskan set from cabelas to use, but the bag is big and bulky for shed hunting and scouting. Thats the only reason i was thinking of doing the nomad first.

Ok, I tried to snap a couple quick pictures to illustrate but I don't know how well you will be able to see them. Essentially, the Kifaru frame and pack mounts is more narrow than the Cabela's frame. The Kifaru mounting system has a flap that goes over the top of the frame. I really don't see where you would get this to work on the Cabela's frame without quite a bit of modification.

Now, I would echo what DreamingBig said and say to get a frame first. There are plenty of cheap pack alternatives especially for scouting around. If you keep your eyes open, you can find an HPG bag that is designed to fit multiple frames. Below it is pictured on the bikini but it would also work with your Cabela's frame too. Nothing glamorous but its a bag that you can use that will hold a decent bit. If you are interested in going this route, shoot me a PM so we don't clog up this thread anymore.

I was bummed that the nomad didnt come standard with the web dominators its pictured with on the site...

Also I cant figure out what the little short strap is that's on the outside of each wing sewn at an angle near the top with no buckles or anything on it... Can anyone enlighten me?

That sucks - I thought those were standard since they were in the picture. I think dreamingbig is right - those are where the lid attaches.

Anyone who ordered one in CB get their yet? Or even a shipping notice?

I could be wrong but those tabs on the wings above the zippers are to rip open the zipper quickly I believe.

Not tabs.. the tabs for ripping the zipper are right on top of each wing lid and are obviously tabs for ripping open the lids. This is a short strap on the top outside of each wing. They are sew in at an angle and are 12 inches long.

There are a ton of straps on this pack so they would be nice. $2 a pop for them would add up too, but I guess about 8 would be all you would need. Not getting them bothered me but the pack is going to be awesome for me. Really liking it.

Check out Milspec monkey - just ordered 10 of them for $7 + $2 shipping.

Also they have the G-hooks with the "wave" in stock again too.

Oh that makes sense, all I could think of when looking at pics was the rip tabs, lol.
